She should just now keep going on and on about he's a welcher, when anyone asks her anything about anything just say "I'm not a welcher like Trump". So asked about the economy - "Trump welched on his bet with me", asked about healthcare "I've never welched but Trump welched on his bet with me".

Seems to be the new USA way!

Probably best not to use a word with a racist etymology ("welch" most likely comes from "Welsh").

I mean, I don't think it's a big deal that you use it, but a politician on the national stage should probably avoid it -- unless his last name is Trump, obviously.

Elizabeth Warren showing 1.56% 'Native American' is ridiculous. It used to be a standard joke that if you took a DNA test it was bound to come up with '2% Native American'. It's almost a cliché.

Current thinking is that Native American DNA is of a similar haplotype to the Asian subcontinents, and the theory is, the early Native Americans made their way into the American continent via the Bering Strait, then a narrow land mass.

IMV any DNA of the 1% variety can be written off as 'noise'.

You should forward your findings to the renowned geneticist who conducted Warren's DNA test. I'm sure he would be fascinated.

Bustamante also compared Warren’s DNA to white populations in Utah and Great Britain to determine if the amounts of Native American markers in Warren’s sample were significant or just background noise.

Warren has 12 times more Native American blood than a white person from Great Britain and 10 times more than a white person from Utah, the report found.

If this just came from Warren, interpreting her own results, that would be one thing. However, according to the news reports ...

[Stanford University professor Carlos D.] Bustamante, a prominent expert in the field of DNA analysis, said he analyzed Warren’s sample without knowing the identity of the donor. He concluded that Warren’s pure Native American ancestor likely lived six to 10 generations ago, and that it was impossible to determine the individual’s tribal connection.

Now I don’t know you, or your qualifications. But the professor does not appear to share your feelings that this is mere noise.

I doubt that it showed her to be "Peruvian". I suppose you can document that claim for us.

Just out of curiosity (and I apologize for challenging your grasp of history to this degree) where do you think the Native Americans in Central and South America came from?

Not the cherokees, which came out blasted warren today. did you read that? Guess not.

Several other experts have confirmed Bustamante's methodology:
We asked several top biological anthropologists to assess Bustamante’s methods. They all said they are sound.

But you know, there's conservatives and then there's scientific understanding, and never the twain shall meet.

LMAO

You really want to just stick to your talking point. Enjoy.

I don't know what you're asking me.

xjx388 claimed that Warren listed herself a "Native American" in a directory. She didn't. He lied. I pointed out that lie.

Is there something else you're trying to get at?

Blasted?

What I read is hardly a blast, and the Cherokee Nation’s statement matches the findings from Professor Bustamnte, which Warren brought forward.

Everyone says it doesnt matter if shes a member of a tribe, but apparently according to the Bureau of Indian Affairs the federal government feels differently?

Because Trump made a million dollar bet based on her claim of having NA ancestry, that he said she wouldn't take a DNA test. She did. And she has NA ancestry, although her mom was wrong about how recently.

That's it. All this goalpost moving and red herrings about older claims in different contexts means nothing.

And the President has shown his word to mean nothing.

You've misrepresented what the President said. It's been quoted several times in the thread.

I had mine done. I’ve had ancestors on the continent since circa 1750. FWIW, I don’t have any Native American markers. I’m Whitey McWhite from Whitesville, USA. Well, Whitesville, UK.

The “everyone has Native American DNA” argument falls a little flat.

OK, fair enough. I see Warren is basing her ethnicity on her mother's looks.

I had a Jewish American psychology lecturer who said a close relative of his threw up African-American physical features which no-one had known about, so must have skipped a few generations to suddenly appear.

Maybe that's what drives Warren.

The average Brit isn't going to show any Native American but I can see many US citizens will, due to historical factors.

One of my ancestors was supposedly adopted by an Abenaki tribal chieftain in 1752.

I wonder if that counts?

Yeah, but, you know. Over exaggerate the negative, and understate the positive. That's par for the course for Trumpsters when they are talking about their philosophical and political opponents.

As for DNA, I'm surprised that TBD even acknowledges it at all given that it proves the Earth to be older than 6022 years and must therefore be "The Devil's Work".
