New SCOTUS Judge II: The Wrath of Kavanaugh

Oh hey, look, now there's witness tampering to add to the pile:

Wait, wait, wait, Seth said what? what a ******* clown, of course a person like kavanaugh can reach out to ******* character witnesses during the nomination process! I did warn you against citing that mope, did I not?

By the way? the actual article says that Ford's team reached out to Leland to get her to revise her statement. Gee Seth did not mention that, because OF COURSE he didn't.

Except this time, maybe Seth is onto something with witness tampering:

Just-released Grassley letter to Ford ends on an ominous & mysterious note: “In light of recently uncovered information, please turn over” all communications with Feinstein & Hirono.

Hmmm, sound like the good doctor and the fixers in the Senate might have been up to something, hmmm

It's incredible the amount of glee that right-wingers have when they think they're just about to screw a whole lot of people over.

I reject your ridiculous premise that people will be screwed over. Kavanaugh will be an outstanding and superb addition to the court.

And further, I am saving up most of my "glee" for when Trump nominates Judge Amy Barrett as Ruth Bader Ginsburg's replacement -- which will inevitably happen sometime during the next six years of his presidency; you can expect an avalanche of "glee" when that day arrives.

sounds like something an independent special council should investigate before the confirmation.

Ted: "Should we listen to the experts?"
Bill: "Absolutely not, they are obviously biased?"
Ted: "Why are they biased?"
Bill: "Because they disagree with me. That disagreement is their bias."

Screaming bias was a stupid argument ending tactic even before "bias" was redefined to mean "anyone who disagrees with me."

It doesn't matter. None of that matters! It pisses off the dems/dimms/porgs/leftists and that makes it ok!

To AngrySoba, this right here is your answer.

The GOP has little in the way of policy aside from "more money for the wealthy" and "the opposite of whatever dems like."

It's how they ended up being the party that stands in favor of molesting children and white supremacy, as well as a lot of their childish "boycotts" and rants about how they've "TRIGGERED!!" any lefty who says "huh, don't quite get that, but okay." at anything

Brett Kavanaugh: Key test vote on Supreme Court nominee passes

The US Senate has voted to advance President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to a final vote.

The vote - called "cloture" - was a test of support for the embattled nominee who has faced sexual assault allegations from several women.

All eyes are on four swing senators for Saturday's final vote.

Cloture passed with 51 in favour. Republicans have a 51-49 majority.

One of the key swing votes, Senator Lisa Murkowski, voted against advancing Mr Kavanaugh.

It doesn't take legal expertise to form an opinion of his demeanor.
But it does take expert experience to evaluate what behavior is appropriate for a judge and what isn't, generally (although there can be extreme cases in which it would be clear to a non-expert, one way or the other). This is especially true for cases which are not extreme, nor black and white.

One reason why expert experience is necessary sometimes is that the experts can draw on past cases from their experience.

The investigation actually secured Cavanaugh's nomination. Thanks Dems!

You know so little about all this that you can't even spell his name correctly.

Btw, why is it Trump and the Republicans lied about the FBI being free to investigate and question anyone they needed?

At this point I think the GOP would be fine with Kavanaugh if he literally soiled himself during the hearing. In fact, maybe it would be better if they did and then Lesley Graham could moon everyone while pointing out it would have been against precendent to have allowed a president whose name begins with O successfully nominate a Supreme Court judge whose name began with G.

At this point I think the Leftists would be against Kavanaugh if Feinstein & Hirono literally conspired with Ford during the hearing and the FBI report completely exonerated him. In fact, maybe it would be better if they did and then Spartacus could moon everyone while pointing out it would have been against precedent to have allowed a competent and extremely well qualified candidate, according to his imaginary friend.

Of course we would. I was never put out by his being a boorish teen, I was greatly disturb to find out he is a boorish-conspiracy-theory-believing-lying adult.

Ford is not the problem. Kavenaugh's inability to show any respect for the position he is being considered for is the problem.

Or he could be a person who knows that the alcohol fueled stupidity of his misspent youth were a terrible idea, where he risked his health, his scholarships, his reputation among the adult world and sometimes, literally, his life, all for the sake of acting stupid while experiencing a chemically induced euphoria, and yet, despite all that, he views it nostalgically. He would never behave that way again, but it was a time in life where nothing seemed to matter but today, and today would last forever.
Possibly.

Kind of like everyone I know.

Now you're just lying to yourself. Either that or you don't know that many people.

The number of alcoholics out there is staggering. I don't have to leave my own family to find high functioning alcoholics. I knew guys in college who partied and were drunk a lot who barely touch the stuff today. And I know guys from that time who barely slowed down and yet still manage to have a job and a family. They would never say they were alcoholics, but some of them surely are.

Now I fully admit that in fact I don't know that Kavanaugh is an alcoholic. He probably isn't.
(Bet you didn't think I would say that.) Nevertheless, after listening to his testimony where he seem to profess his love for beer a little too enthusiastically, it wouldn't shock me that he could be a high functioning alcoholic.

Latest from the creepy porn lawyer:

"What just transpired is the clearest example yet of why the old approach of the Dem party is not working. If we continue on this path, the values, principles and rights that matter most will be lost forever. We must fight fire with fire. And when they go low, we must hit harder!"

-- Michael Avenatti (Oct 5, 2018)

Avenatti is already campaigning for his 2020 presidential run. Hopefully, the Dimms will make him their nominee.

But belief is precisely what this is about. What did Kavanaugh believe the term meant? And I provided conclusive proof that some people believed it meant fart. That indicates quite clearly that Kavanaugh could have believed that too. The claim of perjury on that point falls apart completely.

This is rank dishonesty on your part, for reasons that others have explained. In the specific context under question it can't possibly mean fart.
