New SCOTUS Judge II: The Wrath of Kavanaugh

Yeah, well, uh, his account can be dismissed because he was, you know, like, a privileged, white, rich, prep school attendee. Probably went on to became a privileged, white, rich frat boy.

I noticed in his yearbook that there are also multiple Fs.

That will get The TrooFFFFFFFFer Truthers all riled up again.

Hmm? Why dismiss it? I would support the FBI interviewing him and getting the information that he has to add for pretty much the exact same reason that I support the other people that offered up information that they think is relevant to be interviewed and taken into account. Truth is more important than partisanship, regardless, is it not?

This isn't a issue of the law.

But this is:
I don't think you really understand self-defense law, and "stand your ground" in particular. Florida law isn't as different as commonly portrayed. For an analysis from an actual legal expert on the topic:
Law of Self Defense VIDEO: Just because it’s lawful to present the gun doesn’t mean it’s lawful to press the trigger
Law of Self Defense: VIDEO: Shove-Shoot Case Sheriff’s Statement

I think there is precisely 0% chance of removal. Impeachment from the House would be a tiny possibility, but no chance of actual removal.

I think there's a chance, if circumstances were as I described. I used the word "convincing", let me explain what I meant by that.

I meant that somehow, I can't imagine how but somehow, witnesses come forward that give evidence that they were raped in high school by Brett Kavanaugh. (Love child and DNA test maybe?)

Or someone manages, again I don't know how, to provide proof positive that a party like the one described, happened. (Photograph showing a group shot of exactly the people Ford named.) That would show that this group of people associated, and make it highly unlikely that none of them remembered.

Maybe Mark Judge finds out he's dying of cancer, and has to get a confession off his chest, and he has something else to corroborate.

In other words, real, actual, and powerful evidence that Kavanaugh assaulted either Christine Ford or someone else.

The Republicans have made a pretty big investment in Kavanaugh. Democrats would obviously demand impeachment, and I think the Republicans would be so embarrassed that very few would dare vote in support of him.

Now.....none of those things are really going to happen, but if they did, I think Kavanaugh would be tossed. Meanwhile, I think the media will continue to investigate. They would want to find the sort of evidence I described, and they'll be able to give out cash to witnesses. Sure that will taint them somewhat, but it's a lot easier to loosen lips with cash than subpoenas.

If they are conservative Catholic women, it's all about "save the babies" anyway, so I have seen first hand that attacks on Kavanaugh rile them up. The perception among them is St. Kavanaugh will help chip away at Roe v. Wade.

More on the Devil's Triangle; One of his classmates said that he "invented" the name.

Why didn't the FBI interview him? SHAMALAM!

For some reason, twitter almost never loads on this PC. I shudder to think what virus might be preventing it, but whatever. I almost never get to twitter links. Can I assume it's some sort of "house rules" variant for a quarters game with three glasses?

I had a demure, NPR-listening Black female student say she was "uncomfortable" with Kavanaugh making rulings that could affect her body. Well, boo hoo. Facts don't care about your feelings.

It's too bad this forum wasn't around in 1998. It would be so amusing to compare and contrast how members viewed lying under oath, then and now.

(Psssst. The evidence that he actually lied under oath is pretty weak. He certainly painted an inaccurate picture, as if there were only a very few occasions where he might have had too many beers, but that's spin, not lies. The greatest hope for proving he lied seems to be the blackout thing, but the strongest evidence that he ever blacked out seems to be a bunch of people who saw him drink so much that he must have.)

If you want context, look in the 9/11 subforum here. You can find the conspiracy theorists' website which claims 3000 "architects and engineers" with 9/11 truthy concerns at ae911truth dot org.

Thanks. So it's just another conspiracy group BS. I rather thought so.

Yes it would be.

I belonged to a country club and worked a job where I was the only Democrat among about 5 Republicans and we had a lot of spirited arguments. And to a man, my Republican colleagues and other CC members who were Republicans said that Clinton should be impeached because he lied under oath. And here we are today following the election of a candidate for President who lied under oath in court and in depositions many many times And now we are looking at Kavanaugh who isn't the President and hasn't been elected of anything who lied under oath to the US Senate and all the Republicans I know are excusing his lying.

But it should be recalled what happened to Clinton. He was impeached. He was censured and he was disbarred. In contrast Kavanaugh is not facing impeachment from his present position. He is not going to be censured and in deed the Republicans are seeking to elevate him to a lifetime position ruling on the highest court cases over the rest of us.

Did anyone ever ask the other "Renate alumni" what it meant? If not, why?
If so, did they all back up Kavanaugh's explanation? If not, is that not evidence of Kav's lying about it?

Was anyone questioned by the FBI about the meanings of "boofing" and "Devil's Triangle"?

So, every few pages I chime to remind folks of Kavanaugh's lies last week, and that *that's* the reason he should be disqualified for the privilege of serving on our highest court.

No one seems much interested in the lying from the man, only the stuff that's difficult to corroborate from the women.

Okay, carry on not caring that this lying pile of poo is about to be confirmed to the US Supreme Court.

McConnell and the GOP talking heads are specifically playing up both the 'innocent without proof' and the Democrats are blue meanies who only want to stall (the irony meter exploded). They know full well not to mention the lying as that is a more clear cut reason to block Kav.

The Democrats are talking about the lying and partisanship but neither of those are sexy news so the news media repeats the 'attempted rape isn't proven' more often.

And can you guess why McConnell is having the Republicans and the Democrats review the FBI report in segregated by party groups?

It's so they can control the message to McCaskill and Collins. The Democrats are no doubt looking at that FBI report as inadequate and nothing but a token to cover-up any actual look at the evidence. In the Republican room you can bet the discussion is all about the report confirming Ford's evidence was insufficient to derail this wonderful man's career.

IMO, this whole affair if Kav is approved, is yet one more time those spoiled frat boys get to mistreat women and laugh about how no one can touch them for it.

Regarding the alleged letters about the Devil's Triangle being a drinking game, have they been verified by any credible source? It's far too easy for anyone to photoshop such things and then post them on the internet. This kind of thing is done all the time as was seen in the links I provided earlier regarding the Snopes findings of FALSE on several lies about Ford being spread on the internet. Until I see them verified, I put no faith in their truthfulness.

ETA: I was going to us DT for Devil's Triangle but then realized it could refer to.....Donald Trump.:D

FBI Report: "After being denied the ability to investigate corroborating witnesses we found no corroborating witnesses"

Did you hear the one where Chris Wrey and Rosenstein both are good friends of Kavanaugh?

Wrey went to both Yale and Yale law school 2 years behind Kavanaugh and all three of them are members of the Federalist Society. They've been friends for decades.

There is another way

If, after the 2020 elections (when Americans have had a real gutsful of Trump, and they turf him out) you have a Democratic President, and a Democratic controlled Senate and House, the new President releases ALL of Kavanaugh's paper trail (including everything thing he did while working at the White House) and set the FBI to a full and wide ranging investigation to see just how much he lied under oath at all stages of his elevation through the Federal Justice system.

When they find he has blatantly lied under oath time, after time, after time, they impeach him he gets removed from the bench.

PS: A question: What would happen if judge on a Federal Bench (USCA, SCOTUS etc) were to be disbarred for Judicial Misconduct?

Retired former SC Justice Stevens has spoken out against confirming Kavanaugh. He formerly believed he was qualified, but after watching Kav during the hearing, said he changed his mind.

You'd think that performance had sealed the deal, but these are not normal times, it seems.
