New SCOTUS Judge II: The Wrath of Kavanaugh

In an open letter, over 500 law professors call out Kavanaugh for "Lack of Judaical Temperament"

We regret that we feel compelled to write to you to provide our views that at the Senate hearings on Thursday, September 27, 2018, the Honorable Brett Kavanaugh displayed a lack of judicial temperament that would be disqualifying for any court, and certainly for elevation to the highest court of this land.

Trump says Brett Kavanaugh is "like a perfect person."

Trump is now mocking and imitating Christine Blasey Ford: "I don't know. I don't know. Upstairs, downstairs, I don't know. I don't remember."

Several moments after Trump describes Kavanaugh’s treatment as “abuse” and decries guilty until proven innocent, the crowd goes into “Lock her up!”

Trump is just a moron, supported by morons.

The plus side of Kavanaugh getting confirmed is that they can all be morons together, they all deserve each other.

Congratulations alt-right America, you got the society you wanted; an uncaring, right wing, racist, homophobic and misogynistic society run by a wannabe dictator who is supported by a sycophantic self-centred Senate, in a country that is the laughing stock of the rest of the world, and is fast becoming a global pariah.

Good luck to you all, you'll need it

Well, a bit like Monty Python, what did the Romans do for us?
Ok, roads and sanitation. Americans added safe airplanes and the internet, sprinkled with movies and writers, but I take your point.
Curate's eggs everywhere.

me thinks what they really mean is... long enough to delay until after the election in hopes they can get a majority.

And you don't think the GOP wants this finished before the election so they don't lose that SCOTUS seat?

Who cares? The question shouldn't be political, but one of fitness for the court.

Following that article, I would really like our resident conservatives to tell me whether they found Kavanaugh's defense at the hearing credible, rant and all, but I've not gotten much of an answer to that thus far.

Reading that article is just fine to conclude he has no chance of becoming that supreme court judge.
No one should worry, it's game over.
Trump is going to discard him, it's blindingly obvious.

I'm sure, plenty of conservatives could live with a compromise:

let Kavanaugh cast the deciding vote to overturn Roe v. Wade and Chevron Deference.
Then he will step down.

Sounds fair, right?

Ouch! Is that a lot? Do they represent some group as a whole, or are they a cherry-picked list of pinko liberal lawyers? I'll go back and look, but it's not like the ABA or anything, is it?

I imagine both sides are working hard to generate political cover to allow them to ultimately vote for their own job security. Flake doesn't care all that much, IMO; he's already been burned by McConnell on the DREAM act and may be ready to say **** it to the lot of 'em. He's already said Kavanaugh is a poor choice regardless of what the FBI comes up with.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic.

I'm sure the Republicans will vote Bart Kavanaugh in despite all the evidence that Bart shouldn't even be a paralegal assistant, let alone a SCOTUS Justice.

it is a lot, especially if you consider that most Professors wouldn't sign something like this unless they got Tenure.

I have a couple of bets, talking my book, but I read Trump as ready to discard him. He surprised Trump with the booze escapades, Trump will surprise back.

It would be smart for Trump to withdraw the nomination. With Trump, never bet on smart.
