Would you like a new shovel?

How about not judge a man by the color of his skin, but the content of his character?

Oh for pity's sake, give it a rest. I take you all are annoyed that 'old white men' can be used with a derogatory meaning? It that the problem?

I forgot, all people matter, all police matter, who else? Is there or is there not a problem with all those faces of old white men running the country? Gee, one face is black, that makes it different.

No, Thomas is just like the rest of them. Look how they are treating Ford. Look how they treated Hill. Look how those ******** make sure rich white men stay in control, and in control of women and women's bodies.

Is that the problem you don't get by my post?

Well, her arguments (for lack of a better word) are racist AND misandrist as hell.

IIRC she had 1 beer (as had others) but Kavanaugh and Judge were "stumbling drunk".

I've heard that, but I don't know the source. Her, presumably, but I don't think it was directly from her. I think it was so and so said that she told them that this is what happened. As such, not exactly a good source.

Also, my own teenage experience involves about the same quantity of beer as it appears was consumed by Kavanaugh, Judge, and (judging from her yearbook entry) Blasey-Ford. The idea of six teenagers sitting around with two stumbling drunk, and the other four having one beer each, was not a common experience. It's certainly not impossible, especially if the sophomore was not consuming much, while the seniors were partying till they puked, but it just wouldn't be a common occurrence.

Perhaps we'll get more details when she testifies. Rumor is that that is going to happen after all.

It's possible that K and J had already been drinking earlier. B-F could also have arrived later than the two boys and so started drinking later. Hopefully, we will find out more from her testimony.

Ummm... hate to tell you this, but while Trump may not have gone to an ivy-league school like Harvard or Yale, he is from a wealthy family, born into a life of privilege. (How many people on this board had the benefit of millions of dollars thanks to family connections when starting their careers?)

He went to U Penn, which is an Ivy League school.

She claimed that PJ and she and the other person "had one beer" while the accused and Ford had been drinking earlier.

Beyond the "one beer" fib, PJ who she said had not been drinking said it did not happen

Christine Ford Wanted to Leave Country If Kavanaugh Became Supreme Court Justice

Christine Blasey Ford wanted to leave the U.S. once she realized that Brett Kavanaugh, who she says tried to rape her in high school, would likely become a Supreme Court justice. “She was like, ‘I can’t deal with this. If he becomes the nominee, then I’m moving to another country. I cannot live in this country if he’s in the Supreme Court, ’” her husband recalled in an interview with the Washington Post. “She wanted out,” he added, explaining that she even went so far as to look into what other countries the family might move to.

The only one who has ever made good on their promise to leave the U.S. is Madonna. Once Kavanaugh is confirmed, if Christine Ford does decide to leave then please, please, PLEASE, take Rosie and Whoopi with you.

There is some interesting info in this article regarding Kavanaugh and Judge (the other boy Ford says was in the bedroom). This includes Judge writing in his memoir (Wasted: Tales of a Gen X Drunk) that a high school drinking buddy got so drunk he threw up in someone's car. That person's name? Bart O'Kavanaugh.

To get an idea of Judge's thinking, here are some of his past writings:

(Obama) doesn't have just a streak of the feminine in him; he seems to be a woman and a feminist one at that, with a streak of man in him.
https://www.cnn.com/2018/09/17/politics/mark-judge-brett-kavanaugh-high-school/index.html

But more disturbingly is this, said after declaring Michelle O is more of a man than her husband in 2013:

Oh for the days when George W. Bush gave his wife a firm but loving pat on the backside. The man knew who was boss.

And in 2015

And if that man is any kind of man, he'll allow himself to feel the awesome power, the wonderful beauty of uncontrollable male passion.

In his high school yearbook, Judge's page included the Noel Coward quip, "Certain women should be struck regularly, like gongs."

It seems to me that Judge has a bit of a 'power over women' issue.

What is your point?

Perhaps she leaves, perhaps not. If she's telling the truth, then it must be fairly traumatic to live in a nation which has promoted one's attempted rapist to the Supreme Court, a lifetime appointment without any possibility of impeachment.

And this has nothing at all to do with Rosie or Whoopi. Not a damned thing.

I second everything you just said.

The fraternity he belonged to also doesn't seem to hold women in high regard.

Like logger. It's all about trolling libs. The more celebrity, the better, as if that matters to the nation. It's like treating the running of the nation like professional wrestling. No wonder they love Trump with a passion.

wow, you really are trying to mansplain it! Let me remind you that her instruction was to "Shut up."

"Shut up."

-Senator Shut Up

It is not my fault that you continue to pretend to not get the point she was making.

"Just a thought......If Christine Ford declines to be interviewed Monday.... I’m available to answer questions about my Rape by Bill Clinton."
-- Juanita Broaddrick (Sept 19, 2018)

I suspect Keith Ellison's ex-girlfriend (Karen Monahan) is also willing to testify under oath on Monday if Christine Ford pulls a no-show.

Keith Ellison?

It hasn't gone to trial yet, the investigation is still ongoing. However, Ellison claims his accuser fabricated the story.

Senators Mazie Hirono, Dianne Feinstein, Kamala Harris, and Kristen Gillibrand were unavailable for comment.

Why are you bringing up issues not even related to the issue at hand? If either of them were up for confirmation to SCOTUS then it would be relevant but only in a separate thread.

Oh, can you explain to me what the woman meant? It is good to have men who refuse to shut up and will “defend” what the woman said by explaining the “point,” the woman was making.

Is that a good thing? Confirming a judge regardless of what he's done? At long last, have you no sense of decency?

Classic line, and one which undoubtedly resonates in the history of this country.

Probably appropriate for this situation, at least as far as the intent of the quote.

But I have always wondered a bit about the logic of Welch's words. When someone has shown no particular inclination toward decency during a decades long political career, why would there be any reason to expect a sudden change?

Joe McCarthy wasn't going to be having any epiphanies of decency, he'd been doing just fine with the shtick he'd been using.

It's pretty much the same reason we don't need to expect any changes in the execrable behavior of Trump and the GOP. If it works for them, why fix it?

It isn't like decency is a core Republican value.

You know why this stuff pisses women off so much? It's because a very large majority of us have experienced it personally, typically more than once.

I knew guys just like Kavanaugh in high school, completely disrespectful toward women. I had a drunk date get on top of me and not let me up. And look at how many men are excused for this behavior, They're young, don't ruin their lives over it... And the girl, she shouldn't have been there.

#metoo, #ididn'treportiteither

You tell your parents and you can bet they would not only blame you, they'd probably give you restrictions for it.

<snip>

I don't know why you say this. SCOTUS Justices can be (and have been) impeached using the very same articles of the Constitution and the same process prescribed to do so for a President.

I would concur that it is highly unlikely, but it is most certainly possible.
