Today's Mass Shooting

How long until some idiot blames video games for this one?

They were there to play video Madden football.

Obviously, he was angry about those athletes protesting the anthem.

Serious note 1: Actually, these tournaments can have surprisingly large amounts of prize money for winners at the national level (although it's likely far too early in the year for that sort of prize just now - Madden's usually released around preseason, which just barely started). That's one potential motivation, off hand, and I expect police are looking into that already.

Less serious note 1: I wouldn't mind if people actually did protest the US anthem, that song's terrible.

Coincidentally (to your joke anyway), the shooter lived where that song was written- steps from the lookout cannon on Federal Hill, and a few minutes from Ft McHenry where the 'flag' waved. (I lived in the same neighborhood for 5 years).

Any truth that Fox News was speculating on air that this might be MS13?

I got annoyed at Comcast raising my rates one time to many so I cancelled all the channels but the basics so no more Fox, CNN, or MSNBC for me. It wasn't healthy watching too much Trump anyway.

I hadn't heard about that, but I would not be surprised.

Why would an LA gang target gamers in Florida? Makes no sense, especially compared to the currently reported motive, that he was a gamer that had lost in a previous round.

Total speculation, but I wouldn't be suprised to find out his social media was filled with Gamergate nonsense.

"A participant in a video game tournament in Jacksonville, Florida, has shot dead two people before killing himself, police say.

They named the killer as David Katz, 24, from Baltimore and say he used one hand gun. No other suspects are sought.

Eleven other people were injured on Sunday at Jacksonville Landing, a large shopping and entertainment complex.

Some unconfirmed reports say Katz had become angry after losing at the American football eSports event."

Well, he was shooting at gamers themselves, so unless you're suggesting he was anti-Gamergate, I don't see what this shooting would have to do with it.

Not all gamers supported gamegate.

That said, I don't think gamergate was involved in any way.

Try rereading what was said and not what you dreamed up in your imagination.

You said you wouldn't be surprised if his social media is full of Gamergate nonsense. But Gamergate was gamers against games journalists and developers, not gamers against other gamers. The guy shot gamers, therefore the only possible way Gamergate would have anything to do with this is if he was on the other side of Gamergate, thus anti-Gamergate.

Unless of course, you bringing Gamergate into this was just an irrelevant tangent that you didn't think through.

Not at all, that kind of misogyny is one of the most unifying traits of mass shooters.

Like how this brave man took a stand against women who drive cars.

You are still adding in your imaginings instead of just taking what I wrote as exactly what is says. Sorry but your post is a example of how to fail reading comprehension 101.

Here's a hint if you still are having troubles. Where in my post did I say anything about Gamergate having anything to do with the motive of the shooting? I didn't? By gosh, so I didn't. See you added that in all by yourself.

In future, try and take people according to what they actually say, and not what you want to believe them to have said.

So why mention it at all?
