The problem with the Trump supporters who buy and read this book aren't looking for the truth. They're looking for it to tell them that what they already believe is right. Readers of this book won't be asking questions as to the validity of its claims only for validation of their bias.

The other claim in the Trump Tweet is that the book is "already number one on Amazon" (or somesuch).

That sounds like a sales claim, and ~200 (fake) reviews isn't really very much.

Are sales figures available yet?

eta: Yes I know it's a silly question. Trump has several times touted a "bestseller" before it's even published. Preorders, of course... but how many are still boxed up in the storeroom? :D
This is from today on the Amazon page:
Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #4 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)
#1 in Books > Politics & Social Sciences > Politics & Government > Political Science > History & Theory
#1 in Books > Politics & Social Sciences > Politics & Government > Specific Topics > Corruption & Misconduct
#1 in Books > Politics & Social Sciences > Politics & Government > United States > National
But you have to understand how they calculate those numbers. It's based on sales today or a rolling week, something short like that. Any book people buy right off the bat like this kind of crap will be a best seller for a couple days, then it will drop off the map.

There are a whole bunch of people who believe this crap, believe Alex Jones, believe Trump, believe the Clinton Cash book and John Fund's book that lied about voter fraud.

I feel like all the progress it felt like the JREF was making has been wiped out and then some.

That's because stupid isn't fixable.

Exactly, they they would be giving 5 stars before they even opened the cover. In fact, many of the buyers won't read it at all, they'll get the summary from Fox instead.

How hard is it to get 200 diehard Trump fans to buy the book and give it a 5 star review? Not hard at all.

Nothing there that I'd really argue with. But I think the majority in Britain have been pretty pleased with the job Brenda's done though. If there's a "10 Worst Heads of State, number 6 will blow your mind!" article out there I doubt she makes the list, that could change once Brian gets the top job of course.

Why are you saying Brenda and Brian? Aren't we talking about Queen Elizabeth the Second and Prince Charles? Also, while the woman has carried herself with dignity. It seems as if the citizens are very saying that totally based on being a lucky sperm, that someone should represent a nation. It annoys me that Crossrail was renamed the Elizabeth line.

"Brenda" and "Brian" are common nicknames for the Queen and Prince Charles originating from Private Eye, sorry I tend to use them from habit.

And yes, I agree that inherited privilege is a stupid and outmoded way of choosing your Head of State. But I was reflecting the reality that most of my fellow Brits don't feel the same way and that however stupid, outdated and arbitrary her appointment was she has been far from the worst HoS the World has seen over the last century.

She sucks dicks.

Well she certainly beats Henry the 8th.

Or Hitler, Stalin, Yeltsin, Putin, Berlusconi, Idi Amin, Pol Pot, Mao, Trump and many more. Okay, I'll admit that 'not massacring your own people or starting a war isn't a terribly high bar, but a depressing number of Heads of State failed it in the last hundred years.

More to the point, unlike Berlusconi or Trump she's never embarrassed the country on the world stage, attempted obstruction of justice, jury tampering or bunga bunga parties. She's never thrown up on the Japanese Prime Minister either.

None of this justifies a hereditary monarchy but I try to be fair to individuals.

In my darker moods I feel like that about the entire Enlightenment.

When I was growing up in the 60's and 70's it was taken as a given that secularism and the scientific method had triumphed over fundamentalist religion and there could be no going back (outside a post-apocalyptic future, as in A Canticle for Leibowitz). The recrudescence of fundamentalist religion in politics from about 1980 took me completely by surprise.

I'm not disappointed by the absence of jetpacks and a flying car in every garage, but I'm deeply disappointed by that.

Heinlein saw it coming.

Made me think of this, when the White House kept Trump away from the press near the helicopter:

“On what appears to be the nicest day Washington has had all week, the White House has informed the pool that POTUS will motorcade to JBA because of bad weather,” Kumar wrote.

I understand being pessimistic right now. But all is not lost yet. The fact is that religion is eroding with every generation even in the United States. Knowledge will win out....I hope.
