I would say this is becoming ridiculous, but that point was passed when Trump became a serious candidate. The shocking thing to me is that is the 'but, but, but, er' freedums!!' crowd is totally okay with (loving?) attacks on a free media by the head of state.

...Yeah. As a person who values truth and honesty highly, it took me a while to come to terms with the utter hypocrisy and propensity to lie of the current "conservative" leaders and how much the current conservatives seem to be completely failing to keep their people in line or actually holding them accountable for their actions.

Trump threatens via twitter

"I would be willing to “shut down” government if the Democrats do not give us the votes for Border Security, which includes the Wall! Must get rid of Lottery, Catch & Release etc. and finally go to system of Immigration based on MERIT! We need great people coming into our Country!"

That will be Trump's big failure. He did not build a wall. My friend Kari has some on that topic:

There have been so many twitterstorms that they all blur together. Didn't he threaten to shut down the government a month or so ago (same premise- that crime loving Dems wouldn't support his wall and ICE)? And wasn't that also just before something momentous was about to break?

In short, is he just recycling Trump's Greatest Hits as he's running out of material, or is this considered his A material and he's trotting it out because medical evidence to be released tomorrow proves that Stormy Daniels is a guy. She's really Chad Lipscomb, an actuary from Boise. Or something like that?

Don't forget the part where he's on tape claiming that Chad is so much better in the sack than any of his wives?

In my experience, white evangelicalism has been deeply mixed for decades with white supremacism, "prosperity gospel" nonsense, and the like.

Only decades? Seems likely it was far longer. Though I think most of their colleges no longer formally outlaw interracial dating, or at least fewer.

Fortunately the republican party seems to be too dumb to notice that the most recent bill on immigration he supported couldn't even get more than half of republicans to vote for it in the house. I guess this is a take him seriously but not literally thing?

Three years ago, could anyone imagine a meeting of Japan, Canada, Mexico, and the EU about anything and the US not being there? All our most important allies are meeting to figure out how to deal with a problem of our creation. The fact that this meeting is happening is a failure on the part of Trump.

Ah but that is a democrat view of allies, those countries are the allies of the democratic party, the republicans chief ally is Russia after all.

Well the Democrats were the first ones to adopt a Germany-as-enemy, Russia-as-ally stance back in 1917, so it's their fault :p

Trump's latest claim, that a dispute over golf club membership fees led Mueller to leave and therefore bear a grudge against him, rendering him too biased to investigate him, is exactly the sort of weak counterclaim seen from vexatious litigants like the Church of Scientology. It's the same sort of endless counterclaim, fall back and claim something new that was seen time and time again from the Birther movement, like those from Orly Taitz. It smacks of desperation.

ETA: it appears to not be a recent claim, but was reported by the New York Times in January. Still, it seems to have risen to the surface recently.

I imagine hes desperate because he colluded with the Russians.

I imagine he's desperate because he was completely in the loop the entire time, making him a conspirator in ALL of it, and the last few defenses against that coming out are crumbling. He's running out of people to fall on their sword for him.

But will Republicans care that he worked hand in glove with Russia to violate the laws of the US? I don't see it as all that likely.

But the republicans are the party of America. The party of Super-Patriotism. Just see how many pro-Trump/pro-Republican posters on Twitter include American flags in their avatars! How could you suggest that they would accept a situation where they have a leader subservient to another country?

I mean, its not like there were any hints during the election that Trump might have been compromised by the Russians. Well, except for him asking the Russians to hack Clinton's emails. And long standing financial ties between Trump and Russia that were published long before Trump entered politics.

Bengazi! Uranium One!

I heard they were passing out Russian flags at a Trump rally.

Just in case Trump hasn't gone far enough in alienating his allies...

Donald Trump has quipped — “several times” — that daughter Ivanka Trump could have married New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, witnesses told The New York Times. “Instead,” the president is reported to have said, “I got Jared Kushner” for a son-in-law. The dig appeared to be less good-natured ribbing and more of an indication of wishful thinking by Trump, who has had a bit of rocky relationship with Kushner. The president has told aides that “Jared hasn’t been so good for me,” The Times reported Saturday.

I wonder of Kushner has a breaking point like Cohen does, and whether these type of comments (if true) might cause Kushner to flip and turn on Trump. (Granted its a bit more complex with Ivanka involved.)
