Anderson Cooper line on the bottom of the screen:

"We'll leave the gaslight on for you, part 10"

Remember taxpayers, you paid for this campaign rally disguised as a speech to veterans.

Trump to veterans: Don’t believe what you’re reading or seeing
At a Veterans of Foreign Wars Convention in Kansas City, Mo., on Tuesday, President Trump told veterans and guests that they shouldn't believe what they're reading about his administration or seeing on the news.

"Just remember, what you are seeing and what you are reading is not what's happening," Trump said. "Just stick with us, don't believe the crap you see from these people, the fake news."

Trump Tweets

" The European Union is coming to Washington tomorrow to negotiate a deal on Trade. I have an idea for them. Both the U.S. and the E.U. drop all Tariffs, Barriers and Subsidies! That would finally be called Free Market and Fair Trade! Hope they do it, we are ready - but they won’t!"

So Trump is ready, willing, and able to drop all government subsidies to US industries such as:

- agriculture
- oil
- aerospace
- auto
- steel
- coal
- textiles
- drugs and medical equipment
- military weapons and equipment

... and a whole slew of other industries that receive government subsidies and handouts.

Really ?

The US is prepared to do that ?

And that is a problem: we don't know if the Russian Goal is indeed making a US president a puppet or just weaken the US by creating maximum internal chaos. Intelligence experts themselves admit they are not such which strategy is in place.

For Putin, this is basically a no-lose situation. If the Republicans win, the Democrats will say Russia interfered in their favor, and if the Democrats win, the Republicans will also say that Russia interfered in their favor.

The only thing that could head off such tit-for-tat accusations at this point is a full-on press against Russian tampering of any sort, which Trump simply will not do. So Russia doesn't even really need to do anything at this point - Come the elections, the US will do quite a good job of tearing itself apart looking for Russian spies and traitors, even if there aren't any.

Putin must be laughing himself sick every time he thinks about how well he's played Trump, and the US in general.

Suuure... What? You don't trust Honest Donald, the Stable Genius?

For someone who likes to think of himself as a dynamic, powerful leader Trump is sure as hell easy to fool.

Old news. Was posted and discussed a couple of pages ago.
The 'Leaving the gaslight on for you' was new to me tonight.

New news: They've altered the transcript to the Putin Trump press conference and edited the video to take out Putin saying he supported Trump and wanted Trump to win the election because Trump wanted a good relationship with Russia.

I kid you not.

We've always been at war with Eastasia.

The fact that he leaked was enough in my opinion.

But what did he leak? I ask because the term "leak" only applies to classified material.

IOW. I don't think he leaked anything and that the accusation is just another Trumpista lie.

A completely wrong statement fron that WAPO article:

The bold is complete baloney. They readily embrace such programs to benefit large corporation, especially defense contractors, the 0.5%, and, of course, farmers. In the last case, it's because they know the vast majority of the money will wind up in the pockets of agribusiness like ADM and Tyson while making them look good to the voters.
I say if we give them the money, all the executives and senior management need to submit to drug tests as welfare recipients.

Trump sounds like he has now decided which is the safest country to take out with nukes (Yay!), one his insane partner Netanyahu, who also needs to play villain for his base, is itching to bomb. Trump is sure to have heard just how effective declaring war is in getting unwavering support, and there is an election coming. A nuclear attack on Iran has a high probability of actually happening, as that is a war Trump can start from his bedroom, between tweets, with little prep or warning.

The United States of America would be the first nation in history to start an aggressive war using nukes, setting a precedent Hitler and Stalin could only envy. If and when, would not be at all surprised to see any protesting US citizens fired upon with live ammo, branded traitors by the dwindling press still allowed to publish, as armed hicks pour out of back hollers to terrorize city streets. Outright lynching would then likely make a swinging comeback across TruMerca, with gays and blacks being openly hunted. The march of jack boots will finally ring down Pennsylvania Avenue, just as Trump and his raving fanatics so desperately desire. Finally, payback for the true elite: people who can read and have an education; aka, sinful evolutionists.

Your first paragraph is a valid worry, one that I share.

Your second paragraph is really far out in the woods. Come back to reality, man. The USA is not going that far.

Leading to these possible explanations:

1) He’s so ignorant he really thought that.

2) He learned from Roy Cohn the art of the “Big Lie”, which we’ve seen before in recent history.

3) He doesn't give a **** about truth or reality. He just blurts out what makes him look good to himself and his base. In this case, he wants to show that he's "tough".

I simply do not understand it - and in particular I do not understand why close to 40% of independents continue to support him

There might be a flaw in that poll. That is that those voters that previously identified themselves as Republican and oppose Trump may no longer identify themselves as Republican. People like George Will, Max Boot, Whitman etc are not going to appear as Republicans who approve of Trump. Consider carefully that as the party grows smaller it becomes more solidly Trump.

There's an explanation but it's not acbytesla's. While the ranks of Republicans may be thinning a bit, they don't turn to the Democratic party. No, they declare themselves "Independent" but they still approve of Dump. Thus:

1) approval within the party goes through the roof because only the die-hards are left; and,
2) apparent approval among "independents" goes up because there are more Dump-supporting but Republican-rejecting in the cohort.

"Apparent" being the important word.

At least I cling to that hope. If I am, we're in deep, deep Bandenini.

Here's the thing. How much erosion is too much? I contend it's not that much. As has been pointed out before. Trump LOST nationwide by 3 million votes. He won the electoral college by barely beating Clinton in 3 states and that was accomplished by driving down support of a very unpopular candidate.

Trump has his base. That hasn't changed. I contend for him to win again, he must expand his base not merely hold on to it. Do we think he has done that? That doesn't seem likely to me. People are not going to take it for granted and not turn out. Is he winning with swing voters? I doubt it. If the Dems find a charismatic candidate,, I contend Trump is toast. But if it is a boring old pol, Trump has a chance.

I think a lot of people are simply tired of the Chaos Con Man. And they will be more tired 2 years from now.

3) He doesn't give a **** about truth or reality. He just blurts out what makes him look good to himself and his base. In this case, he wants to show that he's "tough".

More importantly, he doesn't care about keeping his lies straight, which is why he just flails from one contradictory lie to the next.

And that's why I'm not shocked to hear that he'd just complain that he will blather about "Russia" rigging the midterms if they don't go his way. He telegraphed that one for years, only difference is that he's shifted away from blaming it on the darkies and illegals. This has been nothing more than a part of the standard GOP playbook for the past 20 years at a national level - which is why the DOJ pushed to find "illegal" votes 15 years ago, why ******** like Maine governor Paul LaPage was lying about busloads of black people from out of state, and Dolt 45 himself put together his voter suppression squad last year. If the dems are still unprepared after all this time...I don't know what to tell them except they should listen to what black people have been saying for once.

Your second paragraph is really far out in the woods. Come back to reality, man. The USA is not going that far.

Looking in from the outside, it is already there in spirit. Being there in action would not be surprising in the least.
