The Trump/Putin summit predictions thread

Do y'all think Putin recorded the summit discussions? Why our why not?

Given it's so bloody obvious Trump's take-backs are BS, one can only conclude that the Republicans who accept said take-backs are really just doing the same thing Trump is, gaslighting their constituents.

IOW they welcome the Trump excuses and are happy to use excuses themselves.

That's certainly my view..

Trump has come out against giving Russian investigators access to the ambassador and other dude. Sanders said it was discussed but not agreed to, but who knows what Trump really said? In the press conference he called Putin's proposed help investigating 12 Russians "an incredible offer," but left out that this would be in exchange for serving up 2 Americans for interrogation.

Trump may have *NO IDEA* what he agreed to.

Maybe Russia Today will tell us.

98-2, Senate against allowing access.

I assume he meant In-credible as in not credible.

Just like the Infamous El Guapo

Suuuuuuuuuure he did

1.
impossible to believe.
"an almost incredible tale of triumph and tragedy"
synonyms: unbelievable, beyond belief, hard to believe, unconvincing, far-fetched, implausible, improbable, highly unlikely, dubious, doubtful; More
inconceivable, unthinkable, unimaginable, impossible;
informalhard to swallow, cock-and-bull
"I find his story incredible"
2.
difficult to believe; extraordinary.

FANT45TIC

So on the personal phone thing: CNN quotes sources saying personal cell phones might be a security risk, while regularly updated government phones can make cell phone use more secure. It doesn't say whether Trump's cell phone is a secure line. It there any reason Trump would want an un-secure cell?

So Donald has done at least two things this week that will not please Putin. Wonder if he's going to have a response

Oh yes, I'm aware of that meaning but President Trump's delivery in the press conference, his general clumsiness with the English language and specifically his repeated use of the word in the past to mean "excellent" leads me to be skeptical that on this one occasion he used it correctly rather than colloquially.

So, you find it "incredible," hmmm?

quod erat demonstrandum

Context is important, as is past performance.

If I had said "President Trump's press conference was incredible" in a tone of voice which implied it was excellent and I had a tack record of only using the word incredible to mean excellent then it's reasonable to conclude that's what I meant.

Not only that, but there were many other words, less open to misinterpretation he could have used.

I'm not buying it. At the time he thought it was a great offer. He has been persuaded since that it isn't. Maybe tomorrow he'll change he mind back again.

From Russia Today:

‘Important verbal agreements’ made at Trump-Putin summit – Russian ambassador to US
Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump did reach key unwritten deals during their talks in Finland, but there is nothing secretive about what they discussed, Russia’s ambassador in Washington, Anatoly Antonov, says.
“The meeting was important, intense, constructive and productive.

I believe that important verbal agreements were made,” Antonov said on Rossiya 1 TV on Wednesday evening.

During a foreign ministry briefing earlier the same day, Antonov, who was in Putin’s negotiating team, said that no “secret deals” were struck between the two presidents, specifying that negotiations in Helsinki on Monday focused on Syria and Ukraine.

RT actually makes it look like Antonov has changed his story slightly. Possibly at the behest of Putin. Who possibly wants to remind DJT of those agreements.

"Nothing secretive" about the agreements, we're just not going to tell you what they are - and the Russian defense ministry is ready to act on the not-secret agreements. Quite possibly the Russian defense minister knew of the agreements before the Pentagon did. Which sounds just a wee bit treasonous, IMO.

Did Dolt 45 ever even have any such authority to turn over 2 people in the first place? Of the two people I've heard of, one is a former ambassador (um...you sure you want to start turning ambassadors over to murderous autocrats?), and the other is British.

"Unbelievable" is often meant as praise - inflection matters. "The Incredible Journey," one of my favorite children's books, does not mean you should not believe the story - it means it was an astonishing journey.

Brandy praised a young singer's performance on "America's Got Talent": "That was un-believ-able."

Besides, I kind of doubt that Trump has a good grip on Latin prefixes.

The Incredible Journey? The most blatant case of fraudulent advertising since my suit against the film The Never Ending Story.

I assume he meant In-credible as in not credible.

My take was that eventually he was going to claim that meaning was what he intended.

"So I'm thinking, here's this guy making this offer, and he's killed what? 10? 20 people? And he wants to bring my guys over to his country and interrogate them? And I'm thinking, this is absolutely incredible, absolutely unbelieveable, that he would make this offer."

Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats said he still doesn't know what happened in the one-on-one meeting between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland, on Monday.

Linky.

Might need to update the Survivor thread...

I don't see any way he could compel them to speak to Russian investigators.

Maybe Putin was plumbing the depths of Trump's ignorance.
