While Trump is as ignorant as hell promoting the "Democrats did it", his minions out on the news pundit circuit are very articulate and smooth with their propaganda talking points.

Shift to "Obama did it"
Insert "criminal aliens" in the discussion as often as possible
Repeat false stats about how many of the 'criminal aliens' are using someone else's kids in the scam
Claim the criminal aliens seeking asylum could come in through legit entry points (and apparently the news media hasn't heard that they are not being allowed to get their feet on US soil so they cannot come in said legit entry points
Insert the BS claim they are presenting "cards" with the asylum claim spiel on it
Make the false claim there is some huge wave of immigrants coming in now even though the numbers are down
Repeat again that these criminal aliens falsely seeking asylum with kids that aren't really their own are coming here because we are too soft on immigrants
Mention how important the wall is

etc etc

It's a well-oiled, very slick minion army that someone is passing out the talking points memo to. GOP Congressmen (because I haven't seen any GOP Congresswomen on the circuit) and pundit women, lots of them, are all repeating the same rehearsed lines.

And the news media, including MSNBC this morning, have sucked up the false equivalency and some are not challenging the talking points at all.

It's a terrible, corrosive, debilitating fear. It's almost enough to make you give up hope. And for now these parents have no way even of expediting a guilty plea and getting plane tickets home. The plea would be under extreme duress, anyway. And you may have an excellent chance of being killed in your own country.

It is cruel and unusual punishment, and these are people who haven't even been convicted of a crime. Set aside just for a moment "they shouldn't be here." They are here and many have tried the legal way: presenting themselves for asylum at a port of entry. Is it then OK to hold their children hostage?

And now he is tweeting about how the German people are turning against their government because of immigration so add that to your list of deflection tactics from the Clown-in-Chief. Included a lie of course where German crime was at record highs (this year saw record low in fact). Kim is a good guy, fun and strong but Justin and Angela and Emmanuel are all such bad guys and losers... if it wasn't so sick it would almost be funny

The W. Bush and Obama administrations both had family detention centers, which weren't great, but also not the same thing as separating families. I can't find the source now, but I've read that the Obama administration also had teen and child detention centers, but that was for children who crossed the border without their families which, again, is not the same thing.

Separating families by putting the parents under arrest is a uniquely Trump thing. Well, unique in the last 70-80 years or so.

If this happened to me, if someone took my kid from me after I fled the dangers of home, there is no way I could guarantee the safety of anybody between me and my children.

Economically, you're setting yourself up to drastically drive up the costs of motor vehicles, houses, etc. because your leader doesn't care that his economic policies will cause lots of pain to average Americans. Diplomatically you're aligning yourself with the dictators and despots of the world while driving your long-term allies and partners away. Ethically you've decided that a cult of personality honouring someone who lies almost as often as he breathes is OK because he wants to hit down, and you think you'll get to do the same.

With the cost of tariffs passed on to the American consumer? Of course we are.

Right now your feckless leader is contemplating a large tariff on what he's calling Canadian Automobiles. What he's not aware of is that the auto industry is so heavily integrated that all he'll do with that is drive the price of vehicles to the US consumer 20-30%. Canadians sell US and Mexican based parts manufacturers steel and aluminium, the US is making the components that are later assembled in Mexican and Canadian finishing plants. You tell me where the burden is going to fall when he imposes the tariffs on finished cars? Or, you can keep with the current arrangement and be able to afford your cars and trucks.
