WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump has called off a visit by the Philadelphia Eagles to the White House Tuesday due to the dispute over whether NFL players must stand during the playing of the national anthem.

Trump says in a statement that some members of the Super Bowl championship team “disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart.”

Trump says the team wanted to send a smaller delegation, but fans who planned to attend “deserve better.”

He says he’ll instead be hosting “a different type of ceremony” with the U.S. Marine Band.

I really want honest discussion. But that custom seems to be dying. I may not always agree with the other person, but at least I can grasp their perspective. But with so many people today, it's turned into a zero sum game. I win, you lose. And what bothers me the most is the lack of introspection. Few people it seems are willing to challenge their own positions.

The lack of detail in this poster's comments demonstrates a total unwillingness to apply skepticism and critical thought. If one cannot defend one's position thoughtfully, how can they possibly believe they got it right?

Philly Eagles or Marine band. Seem interchangeable to me.

You can’t give the president credit for anything, how is that an honest discussion?

Democrats in this country run on pure emotion, that is what liberalism is made up with, pure emotion, there’s no logic in it whatsoever. I will admit here at least the liberals try to put logic and critical thinking into their positions, but the national democrat party and its supporters and liberalism are pure emotion.

Thanks again for proving my point. Much of this just plain ol rumor. If Trump was guilty of anything you would lay all these on him also. It’s just foolishness. It’s why you’ll never be able to have a serious discussion about him or more importantly his policies. Your side isn’t welcome to the discussion table because your side cannot have a constructive discussion with real ideas.

So we will continue to kick the left from one side of the country to the other. We will use the laws, the electoral college, redistricting, all the tools we can to defeat the left.

You just denied that Trump lies habitually. Now, perhaps he just unknowingly makes plainly false statements because he is ignorant of the truth, but you surely can't deny that Trump repeatedly and habitually says false things.
