The Trump Presidency VII

I’ve already posted it. We’re losing our manufacturing base.

The US hasn't lost its manufacturing base - your manufacturing base has changed. It has become more automated, requiring fewer people than before and those left are in positions with weak to no Union protection. The lower skilled manufacturing positions in the automotive industry, or in the forestry industry aren't coming back - those jobs can be done cheaper by automation, and, barring massive government intervention to dumb industry down, aren't coming back.

Knowing what you do, you should be able to understand why he’s doing this. Did you think his strategy only involved tariffs? Guess why another part of his broad strategy is coupled with taxes.
I think he's a moron. He's shutting the gate AFTER the horses have escaped. He's doing what people with ZERO understanding of manufacturing and economics might do.

Manufacturing is a discipline which we don't have any more. At least not in the semiconductor industry. It takes years to develop as well. And with automation replacing most of the jobs in that industry at best we can hope for is the factories to return but very few jobs.
I’m fascinated how you’re so black and white with this kind of thinking. Would it surprise you to know the president isn’t interested in putting tariffs on anyone? Let Trump handle what he’s best at.
What is he best at? Because he doesn't seem to me to be good at anything except headline porn. Seriously, what do you think Trump is good at? He seems good at tearing things down. Actually building things, not so much. What has he successfully negotiated since he became President?
Seeing what you’ve posted, I have no reason to believe you’ll ever understand how he’s getting this done.
Getting what done? Lining his bank account? Destroying the fabric if democracy? Seriously, what is he getting done?

Golfing? Tweeting? Putting his crap name on foreign-made crap?

Help me out here, there’s so much to choose from.

I suppose you missed all those companies leaving for cheap labor? Why do I even have to explain this to you?

This is quite typical of your side. I’m glad he’s leading this, going to be so much fun watching your side absorb it.

So, what do you want? Cheap labor in the U.S. to bring them back?

Have you and your fellow economic genius Trump noticed that the economy you falsely take credit for was achieved without a trade war?

Clearly, your mentor has overlooked that glaringly obvious fact. Which is just more evidence that the credit he takes is bogus.

Why is it you post so much, but say so little?

What do you mean, my side? I'm for America and for Americans and while I generally favor policies that are progressive, I'm for anything that makes this a better country regardless of party.

I'd be in favor of tariffs, if I thought they would help working Americans. I just don't see Trump's haphazard applications of tariffs as a positive. Also, 'free trade has always been a core plank of the GOP platform for as long as I can recall. There have been many more Democrats over the years that were proponents of protectionist policies than Republicans.

Who do you think Trump is helping?

Because he pisses off 'leftists' and 'libs'. Duh.

That's all I get from Logger's posts. Everything is about sides with ZERO interest in the details. Trump is good because? I'm still not clear. Other than he's conservative, and sticking it to the liberals. He says we're uninformed about Trump's policies but he NEVER EVER goes into any detail about what those policies are and how they will accomplish anything.

Trump good, Liberal bad. That's about as much depth as I get.

I wish there were more to add, but that sums it up rather succinctly.
