Quoting a Trump tweet was Squeegee.....

That was March 11, I think. As far as I know, both Dowd and Cobb are now gone.

He was so happy with them that they lasted maybe a month or two!

It's been proposed that Trump publicly praising someone is the final kiss of death that proves they will soon be fired. That certainly seems to be true, but has anyone actually worked out the statistics?

I feel very sorry for comedy writers who do politic satire. Trump hiring Clinton's ex-impeachment lawyer Flood? How can anyone write satire that is more bizarrely funny than that?

Because how can you say Richard spencer is a white supremacist just for wanting a white ethnostate? The two are clearly different, how can you say you know his mind that he believes white people are superior just because he wants them to be seperate?

What level of proof do you demand to classify someone as a white supremacist?

Again, how does that address the post you responded to?

First, I don't recall making any such claim about Richard Spencer, so the relevance is lost on me.

Second, I see no reason why someone's beliefs cannot be inferred from their actions, and have never argued otherwise.

What level of proof do you demand to classify someone as a white supremacist?
This is an interesting question, but it is moving the goalpost rather dramatically, don't you think?

"NEW BOOK - A MUST READ! “The Russia Hoax - The Illicit Scheme to Clear Hillary Clinton and Frame Donald Trump” by the brilliant Fox News Legal Analyst Gregg Jarrett. A sad chapter for law enforcement. A rigged system!"

then

"A Rigged System - They don’t want to turn over Documents to Congress. What are they afraid of? Why so much redacting? Why such unequal “justice?” At some point I will have no choice but to use the powers granted to the Presidency and get involved!"

Get ready for the shutting down of Mueller.

Yup, if anyone knows anything about criminal justice its Gregg Garrett. First hand experience too... after getting arrested himself for being intoxicated at an airport bar.

Maybe you ought to spend some time watching Bill Maher...

You may have a point. This is from this past February:
With Trump’s announcement this week that he’d love a military parade, Maher was able to cross off yet another entry on the authoritarian to-do list he unveiled on an episode of last season’s Real Time With Bill Maher. That puts the president within one still-to-be-checked item for a perfect 10. All he needs is “Military Costume.”

“It’s pretty scary,” Maher said, somewhere between a joke and a wince. The roster before tonight: narcissism and “name or face on buildings”; family members in positions of power; rallies; his own propaganda outlet (“Fox,” said Maher); using the office for personal financial gain; aligned with other other dictators and strongmen; claims minorities are responsible for the country’s problems; “and you lie so freely that people don’t know what the truth is anymore.”

“The last one, the one he hasn’t done?,” said Maher. “Military costume.” Link

He's working up to it.

Trump accuser subpoenas "Apprentice" tapes for lawsuit against Trump

Summer Zervos, a former contestant on “The Apprentice” who accused President Trump of sexual assault, has issued subpoenas for records in her defamation case against him.

The New York Times reported Wednesday that Zervos subpoenaed MGM and The Beverly Hills Hotel to collect records supporting her claim that Trump defamed her by calling her a liar over the alleged assault, which she says happened off-camera while filming the NBC series.

To be fair, they gave Obama one just for not being GWB, so...

YES. I never thought Obama deserved it either. But Obama was a breath of fresh air. Trump doesn't deserve it either and he is not a breath of fresh air.

Are we pretending that Dolt 45 did not spend his entire campaign constantly calling black, Arab, and Hispanic people dangerous and violent who "we" must use state force to constrain? Because the love for Joe Arpaio, Steve Bannon, Stephen Miller, Jeff Sessions, and the like were always based on those openly stated claims.

Or did you simply not pay attention to anything that was said until yesterday at all?

No, I totally agree that all of those things are strongly persuasive that Trump is a racist.

And yet none of those things amount to him "explicitly" being a white supremacist.

Maybe I'm splitting hairs here, but I tend to think that words matter, and unless someone actually says something like, "White people are literally better than the alternatives," then they are not explicitly being white supremacists. Because that's more or less what "explicit" requires.

I agree. White supremacy is a political aim, and means a society in which white rule is guaranteed, by whatever means necessary. Belief in white superiority doesn't inevitably lead to that conclusion.

I'd consider this the same as stating that a person who outright states "All mankind is in sin, and only through belief in Jesus may we be saved from eternal torment" is not an explicit Christian because they haven't said "I am literally a Christian". The former perfectly describes what a Christian is, and a person who repeatedly states that nonwhite people are rapists, less intelligent, etc. needn't say "I believe whites are superior" - they have already stated the exact beliefs of US white supremacism.

... Maybe I'm splitting hairs here, ...
Yes, you are and it comes off as denial when people go out of their way to downplay Trump's racism.

If you have a semantic issue with 'explicit' then just say Trump denies it outright that he is a white supremacist but his behavior and words suggest otherwise. That would be more honest.

I believe I said as much, though I used the term "racist" instead of "white supremacist".

It was indeed the word "explicit" that I was taking issue with. A man who claims he is the least racist person you'll meet is not an explicit white supremacist, though he could well be a terrible racist. Honestly, with Trump, it's possible (though barely) that he's merely exploiting racism for political gain. I tend to think he's not that clever and the reason he comes off as a racist is because he's racist.

As CapelDodger said, there's some difference in the term "white supremacy" but not enough to matter. Trump is not an explicit racist either, insofar as he denies that his opinions are race-based. This is not to deny that he's a racist. I think we have pretty good evidence of that.

A person who "exploits racism for political gain" is, in fact, a racist. A person who exploits nonwhite people for financial gain is a white supremacist - regardless of whether or not they "truly believe" that they're somehow superior. That belief was mere justification, not the central reason to travel across an ocean just to buy or kidnap people for cheap labor - and certainly not a reason to torture, kill, and rob people.
