The Trump Presidency (Act V - The One Where Everybody Dies)

Doubt it. If the access Hollywood tape didn't do it, nothing will.

Sadly, I have to agree. Most of us knew who he was a long, long time ago, but even the basest of his base now know, too. If they haven't jumped ship yet, it is hard to see what would make them do so in the future. :(

Porter was -- as far as we know -- only denied a clearance because of his spousal abuse.

I was under the impression that Porter was never actually denied security clearance, because they never completed the process, because they knew he would be denied.

Only Trump could have given Porter a temporary security clearance.
The fact that Trump claims not to have known that Porter didn't have a FBI approved clearance shows that our president either lies, has no memory or that people on his staff fake his signature m

Or he'll just sign anything that's stuck in front of him.
ETA: Or all of the above, of course.

“Peoples lives are being shattered and destroyed by a mere allegation,” he wrote. “Some are true and some are false. Some are old and some are new. There is no recovery for someone falsely accused — life and career are gone. Is there no such thing any longer as Due Process?”
.....

Mr. Trump’s call for due process does reflect a fear shared by others that the #MeToo movement has gained so much momentum that in some cases, men accused of misconduct are being judged too quickly or punished too severely for sexual behavior that falls into a gray area.

That Tweet will not hurt Trump. If that quote came from anybody else in any other context it would be applauded.

A few years from now the quote will be all that is remembered. "Wow, people complained about that quote? Must have been some uptight people back in the early century."

I'm glad someone has the balls to say the truth about this issue rather than bend over like every other politically correct douchebag. MeToo could go too far - he is not incorrect to say that we need to be cautious.

Trump says dumb things, this is not one of them.

The reason the tweet haunts Trump is there are plenty of opposing voices not being heard, including Trump's own set of accusers.

According to the Supreme Court, though, money is speech, so society must give the really rich party with lots of lawyers much more than equal voice to their detractors.

It's dumb because Trump himself makes a lot of careless accusations and is unconcerned about due process when it comes to his enemies. Nobody is complaining about it because it's not true, they're complaining about it because of the hypocrisy.

Your post might have merit if it stood alone. But since you have chosen to associate it with Trump's tweet it doesn't.

Trump was referring to a specific incident when he used the phrase "mere allegation". That phrase is as close to an outright lie as makes no difference. Porter's security clearance would not have been held up by the FBI for a full year (and by all accounts, forever) if there was no merit to the claims made against him, if it was nothing but "mere allegation".

Trying to pretend they were is transparently more of a false accusation than the ones against Porter ever have been.

One of Porter’s ex-wives wrote a powerful condemnation of the President in Time Magazine. CNN just read part of it.

She's already collaborated with the Deep State, so the media now makes sense. Women, life-long government employees, the press -- President Trump has to do battle with so many fifth columnists trying to weaken our country. Thank God, he has friends he can trust, like Hicks, Ivanka, and Putin.

The problem with this tweet is that idiot wife-beater boy told Kelly that this was going to be a problem. This isn't just an allegation; this is Porter telling Kelly that he knew the whole "wife-beating thing" would be a problem. Remember, Porter isn't contesting that he beat his wife.
