Flat Earth Internation Conference 2017!!!

A flat earth clearly can't revolve around the sun. Therefore there are no such thing as years, which is after all, just one lap of the sun. Therefore, Daniel won't have celebrated New Year.

On the flat earth, the sun circles around sort of above the equator but its circular path moving in and out between the tropics throughout the year so one year is a cycle of that. It does mean the the sun must speed up and slow down throughout the year as the radius of its path changes but it always takes 24 hours to complete one 'orbit'

It's not the daily orbit that defines the year, but the annual orbit. Flat earthers don't have an annual orbit in their water-tight story.

The cycle of the suns path going from one tropic to the other and back again is one year. Thu sun spirals in and out between the tropics on an annual cycle. That's how we get seasons. According to FE.

It does not explain how we have a sun that is of constant apparent size, or how it sets below the horizon.

No it doesn't, FEers have a magical word 'perspective' that can do all sorts of things depending on what they need it to do at the time.

This is how they explain the sun setting on flat earth, I strongly advise wearing large padded oven mitts when viewing this video.

weird how that "perspective" does not change the relative size of the sun as it sets!

Strange how his lines cross past this point of "convergence" (allowing the sun to go below the "horizon"). Explain that one to me.

Not to mention how the sun would just pop back up behind the dude the next day. Sneaky ol'sun waits till you are asleep and then 'perspectives' its way back across the sky to pop up behind you again.

There are different denominations in flat earthery, but in looking around it does sound like the standard belief is that the sun, moon, and planets are spheres. When I was looking in to this I found out about the anti-moon.

Previously when I was thinking about flat earth models I was having trouble fitting in both solar and lunar eclipses. Obviously I needed to think outside the box, because I completely missed the possibility of an anti-moon to explain lunar eclipses.

Wait, what, anti-moon? So it's anti-spherical?

There is at least one person who thinks the moon is concave.
And someone else who thinks the moon is further away than the sun, and his explanation for eclipses is that the sun is lit from behind by a distant light source and the moon gets in between that, the reason he thinks that is because the disc of the moon is invisible in the sky at times of eclipse. He doesn't explain how the eclipse is seen at different times across the earth though.

Usually when you get that deep they end up going gish gallop or fringe reset.
