Cont: The Trump Presidency Part III

Dang. Looks like Trump's tribal triumphalism is in vogue:
Mr. Xi has signaled he is launching China into a new, third era. In his report to the congress, Mr. Xi suggested that if Mao made China independent, and Deng made it prosperous, he was now going to make China strong again. Restoring China to greatness is a central message of the “Xi Jinping Thought” added to the constitution, and is a goal that has already guided Mr. Xi’s policies of building up the military, strengthening domestic controls and raising China’s profile in global affairs.

First comes hard work, next come the riches,
Then come the dorks, strutting in their britches.

Only in this case, there will be an actual and factual budget to back the vision, not generally improper accounting methods, written in GOP crayon.

Another jewel.

EPA chief: ‘True environmentalism is using natural resources that God has blessed us with’ Another day, another attempt by Trump officials to silence scientists.

And another. Trump, the gift that keeps on giving. Nice, now we can repeat the 2008 financial crisis!
Senate Republicans are gearing up to overturn a rule from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau that makes it easier for consumers to sue industry giants. They need a simple majority to do so, and a GOP leadership source confirms they will probably vote today. The regulation, issued in July, prohibits banks from slipping binding arbitration clauses into their customers' contracts for credit cards, bank accounts and other products. The financial services industry has made it a top priority to persuade Congress to scrap the rule, which, by a Treasury estimate, could cost firms $500 million in legal defense fees.

Gotta love those arbitration clauses. Nothing asymmetrical about the power relations at all, gosh.

A great demonstration of how intelligence services and secret police goons could exploit foreigners whose businesses are vulnerable to state pressure or have possibly even been compromised by engaging in illicit or otherwise highly questionable behavior while under surveillance.

So much corruption there to unpack and the news media is distracted by the shiny Tweets between Corker and Trump.

Influential Republican Senator Bob Corker has unleashed a blistering attack on US President Donald Trump, calling him "utterly untruthful".
In a series of television interviews, Mr Corker accused the president of lying, adding that he debased the US and weakened its global standing.

But does corruption exist as a concept, and is it falsifiable? That's the real question here.

Yeah. And what of simple rupt; why obsess with co-rupt? But wait... Such profound ponderance has triggered a TruDeepity EmergenceTM... Behold:

Speech is, like, literally an afterthought.

On-topical ETA: Dump Trump!
