Truck attack in Stockholm, Sweden

DailyMail is reporting three masked guys in the truck jumped out and began shooting at cops. Two were apprehended and one may be hiding in Central Station. At least 5 dead.

None of that is confirmed.

DM now saying bad guys were shooting and stabbing pedestrians in addition to shooting at cops.

The Police just held a press conference. They report that they do not have the person arrested, and have published a photo of a person that they would like to get in contact with.

The said that there have been no other attacks apart from the one with the truck.

I read a report that police are 'really really scared' and that, as the truck hurtled down at least six blocks before reaching the shopping centre, the final death toll could be 'enormous'. So says one witness.

It's in lock-down, and police have shut down railways, telling others to 'stay away from windows'.

So the situation is still developing, with one of the gunmen reported to have run into the Central Station.

DailyMail has published photos of police arresting one person (he is handcuffed) and escorting him. Then another photo seems to show another arrest of a different guy on the ground.

More than one attacker with one still on the loose (your photo)?

This is not what the Police reported in the press conference 30 minutes ago.

They have asked people to leave the city (area around the attack), and have shut down the Metro and the Central station. The reason stated was to minimize risks for any followup attacks.

The rumors about a gunman at the Central Station seems to be just a rumor.

With regards to the route driven, this is possibly the one. It starts outside the restaurant where the truck reportedly was hi-jacked, and ends where the truck collided with a store.

The police were earlier quoted saying that they had people taken in for questioning, but none arrested. So more probably one attacker, and other people running from the area was taken by the police.

On a press conference from the Swedish police right now, they said that the person arrested matches the pictures.

They also updated the numbers to 4 dead, 15 injured.

There are also additional border controls put in place for persons leaving Sweden.

Norwegian media have people at the scene, and they don't report anything about gunmen, shooting or stabbing. I think it's safe to say these are just rumours.

Considering how many people previous "truck killers" have managed to kill, the death count in this instance seem pretty low. I guess he couldn't wait for a time when more people would be gathered? Perhaps it wasn't very well planned, and more a spur of the moment impulsive thing? Either that, or an incompetent terrorist.

I see some reports that the truck was driven quite slow for the first half or so of the street, and only speed up for the final blocks. That may account for the number of people killed. But we may not get the correct numbers until tomorrow, when families have been notified.

The media is now saying there was a bag containing a bomb in the lorry. It's a mercy it did not go off, or it could have undermined the entire departmental store.

I don't know why people on twitter feel the need to circulate graphic pictures of the poor mangled guy and his dog lying in the road.

The arrested man had ISIS material on his FB. His colleagues all thought he was a normal 39-year old chap with four (?) children.

The Swedish Defence College is saying it was cunning for him to crash into Ahlens, because then he could just jump out and jump unto the subway train nearby.
