A) I don't hold them in high regard.

B) there is a big leap between meaning it and the phrase being operative. I absolutely do think they mean it to ensure a militia. That doesn't mean when the reason becomes irrelevant the rule changes at all. They could have wrote "to protect against unicorns" that still wouldn't change the rule.

Opposing Gorsuch wouldn’t be about Gorsuch, it would be about Garland. It is vital that the GOP is not rewarded for blocking the Garland nomination, or else it will only serve to encourage such actions in the future.
