President Trump

Politicians, entertainers and others have come to the defence of a US civil rights campaigner, Congressman John Lewis, who has become embroiled in a row with President-elect Donald Trump.

Mr Trump tweeted that Mr Lewis was "all talk" and should focus on his constituents, after he said Mr Trump was not a legitimate president.

"Congressman John Lewis should spend more time on fixing and helping his district, which is in horrible shape and falling apart (not to mention crime-infested) rather than falsely complaining about the election results. All talk, talk, talk - no action or results. Sad!"

But Mr Lewis' supporters reacted with anger, saying he was a hero and icon.

Others mentioned Mr Lewis' bravery and the fact that the exchange had taken place on the eve of Martin Luther King Day, on 16 January.

Many of them linked to photos of the two men, or to the 1965 so-called Bloody Sunday march in Alabama, in which Mr Lewis received a fractured skull as the protest was violently broken up by police.
Mr Lewis was a leading figure in the 1960s civil rights movement
He is the last surviving speaker from the March on Washington 50 years ago, led by Martin Luther King.

Trump of course is exactly correct, he should be concentrating on what is going on with his district, but no, he's a hero from the *********** 60's so he can say any stupid thing he likes. When is the left going to stop propping up their 60's heroes and govern?

:crazy:

... The conflicts of interest can exist whether or not any laws are transgressed.
Trump doesn't understand this.

Things are heating up. Trump can't stand Lewis challenging Trump's athoritée.

Now Tillerson made an ignorant comment about China's building of military bases in the South China Sea, (hint Donald: It's the S CHINA sea, not the South USA Sea) and between Tillerson and Trump poking a stick in China's eye over Taiwan, Trump has caused an unnecessary ruckus with nothing to gain and he isn't even in office yet.

"He lived on taffy, and taxed the town;
And read his newspaper upside down;
Then he sighed, and hung his hat on a feather,
And bade the townspeople come together;
But the worst of it all was, nobody knew
What the Mayor of Scuttleton next would do."

(From "The Mayor of Scuttleton" by Mary Mapes Dodge, late 19th century)

There's something telling about the assumption that having black congressman means your district is a crime infested hellhole that Trump makes. Especially since Lewis represents the nicest parts of Atlanta.

I'm sure that :rule10: thinks that anywhere not gold plated must be a crime infested hell hole.

He's such a moron.

Looks like their going with tax cuts for the rich repeal and release white papers. I thought they'd at least go with repeal and delay since the current direction will disproportionately affect deep red states like Kentucky and West Virginia. Sucks to be one of the 20 million plus that will lose health insurance due to this but the Trump kids need their tax cuts.

I wonder how many of those 20 million voted for Trump.

And, since we're on the subject, in 2009, Obama was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize by the Norwegian Nobel Committee. Did he accept it? Was that a violation of ethics and a conflict of interest? How much money did he receive from the Norwegian Nobel Committee..............
Be forewarned that I'm billing all my expenses associated with the whiplash damage to my neck from this violent thread derail.

Thank you for signing your posts. It prevents all kinds of confusion I'm sure.

Gee, I remember there being a Constitutional ban on accepting payments from foreign governments...........

So as a coincidence, Obama should be prosecuted if you hold him to the same standards as are being applied to Trump.......or are things different now?
You have to be really especially willfully ignorant to not know that Obama gave the money away to charity.

ETA: Reading the thread I see that others have made the same point. It's worth noting that ChrisBFRPKY has completely ignored this information as it does not play into his position.

Thanks for signing your posts. Who knows how much confusion would occur if you didn't.

Poor thing, attacking their accomplishments, welcome to life. ;)

as usual, you are actively pretending to be clueless to preserve your imagine of the world.

Trump's attacks are effectively void of content: it's always pure contradiction without understanding anything of the issues.

As the supposed leader, this is an invitation to screw him (and the whole US) over, and advertisement of his ignorance.

If you cheer for that sort of thing, you are just a hanger-on to a bully with the IQ and wit of squashed tangerine.

Trump is still acting as if he was campaigning. By now, he should try to reach out to the whooping majority of Americans who dislike him and be a President of America, not only of Breitbartland.
And the Civil Rights Movement is a critical part of our history that Trump has to respect if in turn he wants to be respected.

Race again!

Any more from the left what to use your typical narrative?

Yes it's race.

He assumed that because Lewis is black, his district is crime ridden. Actually Lewis's District contains several world class universities, the CDC, businesses like the headquarters of Coca-Cola, the Atlanta airport, and black people. That is the definition of racism.. Making assumptions based on ignorance. Just like someone saying Trump's isn't racist and claiming not to be a fan of Trump

... and Trump favorability was polling 37%, 51% unfavorable, coming IN to this week. The failing DJT already had the Worst Transition Ever award, then the dossier, now this. Sad.

On the plus side, Lewis' books are apparently selling a thousand times faster on Amazon, and for now at least Trump seems to have galvanized many of the dems, and quite possibly quite a few republicans in congress.

But I'm sure those peevish tweets really hurt the guy who marched on Bloody Sunday.

"Well what I think doesn't matter on this topic that you just asked me about even though I'm the spokesdufus for the new Adminstration"

One common denominator we've seen in populist-won elections in the last two years is their utter incompetence.

Trump is working very hard to follow that trend.
