Trump's Cabinet -- Serious Speculation

Oracle Corp Chief Executive Safra Catz will join the executive committee of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's transition team, and she will remain at the company in the process, Oracle spokeswoman Deborah Hellinger said on Thursday.

Catz was one of several technology industry executives who met with Trump this week, and she went into the meeting saying that her industry would be better off if Trump reformed the tax code, negotiated better trade deals and reduced regulation.

Just a sycophant and not a cabinet member, but delivers her lines well. Deals will follow. Er, public bidding? Drain what swamp?

David McCormick, president of hedge fund behemoth Bridgewater Associates, is the leading contender to be deputy secretary of defense, according to two sources with direct knowledge of the deliberations.

McCormick, a former Army Ranger and West Point graduate, has now met with President-elect Donald Trump twice and had a "very positive" meeting with James Mattis, the retired Marine general Trump selected to run the Pentagon, the sources said.

US President-elect Donald Trump has appointed economist Peter Navarro, a fierce critic of China, as the head of a new national trade body.

He will lead the White House National Trade Council, and serve as director of trade and industrial policy.

Mr Navarro advised Mr Trump during the campaign. His books include The Coming China Wars and Death by China.

Mr Trump has also named billionaire investor Carl Icahn*to become a special adviser on regulatory reform.

Mr Icahn, who will not be a federal employee, has said that US businesses are being "crippled" by excessive regulations.

Convenient that. Avoids having to sell of assets and businesses that would present a conflict of interest for this position.

If evidence of that comes in the form of record profits then cripple me as well.

Trump has nominated David Friedman, a right-wing sponsor of Israel's illegal settlements to serve as US ambassador to Israel.
Friedman, a bankruptcy lawyer with no relevant experience, is president of the US fundraising arm for Bet El, a settlement built on occupied Palestinian land in the West Bank. His extremist record includes calling President Obama an anti-Semite and labeling American Jews who criticize Israel's military occupation "Kapos," a term used for Nazi collaborators.
Both Trump and Friedman have promised to move the US embassy to Jerusalem, thereby recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the city.

Does this send a signal that the Trump administration thinks that occupation by force is OK?
Bad news for Ukraine.

Bad news for the EU and NATO as well, as it signals a willingness to let Russia chip away at Europe.
