It turns out that the current royal family is NOT in fact the rightful monarchy. Edward IV was illegitimate so every monarch from his time on was a false monarch.

The rightful royal family is the Plantangents. The current rightful King of England (as of 2013) is a rice researcher in Australia.

Oh Christ. It is a Tony Robinson video.

You realise this is a piss take, don't you?

No it's all quite true. But of course irrelevant as there has never been "a" royal family, the monarch has always been whoever could declare the title and hold onto it.

I think that after 60 years, Elizabeth R. Could rightly claim the title under Adverse Possession.

I thought Parliament was sovereign? You guys made that point in 1645 and again in 1688.

It's also quite irrelevant whether Edward IV was the rightful King of England for the question who is now the rightful Monarch of the United Kingdom. Different entity.

And all that is completely irrelevant since Henry VII took the throne by right of conquest after defeating Richard III after Bosworth making the whole thing pointless.

I really don't know why people seem to ignore that when they go on about this.

There is only one way to determine the true king / queen of england. They need to have some watery tart give them a sword.

I think we can all agree that strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

Don't forget the 'Glorious Revolution' when the Dutch invaded and King Billy took the throne.
