David Davis has suggested that the UK could pay for access to the EEA...
My immediate thought was that 350 million quid a week should about cover it.

So far, the May government is following Cameron. It's policies toward Europe seem to be purely an extension of domestic politics. Europe tried to play along while the UK was a member but that can't continue. Unless the new government stops with the domestic posturing and starts negotiating it is bound for a hard brexit.I can't see the EU allowing that deal unless free movement is also retained.
That deal is similar to the one Cameron was asking for in his negotiations prior to the referendum: UK keeps paying in, UK keeps EEC access, but puts a brake on free movement.
The EU couldn't offer anything meaningful on that issue prior to the referendum: if the EU still isn't prepared to give some ground on free movement then paying for EEC access is a non-starter.
Davis knows that and is just trying to muddy the water a little and spread confusion about Britain's negotiating position. This is a good idea before any negotiations - you don't want the opposing side to know your strategy.
Contradictory statements like what? The EU are also making confusing and contradictory statements before the negotiations as you would expect - they're all just doing their jobs.

So now the "£350m a week" has to cover:
- The £122bn budget shortfall
- Additional funding for the NHS
- Refurbishing Buckingham Palace
- Maintaining farming subsidies
- Maintaining fishing subsidies
- Indemnifying manufacturers against negative impacts of Brexit
- £2bn a year for science and innovation
- Replace EU investment for our poorest regions
- Pay our EEA subscriptions
What a shambles.

This, from BBC, is very bad news for Brexit.Sarah Olney [Liberal Democrat] wins Richmond Park by-election, beating incumbent Zac Goldsmith standing as an independent.
One bit of rubbish that the EU is spouting is that when we do leave, we'll owe them €60 billion as some sort of severance payment for commitments already made.
Don't you guys read the news or know how to Google?

The article clearly states that the opinion of the EU negotiator is that the UK owes the money already.

In the same post you go from saying I've made a ludicrous claim to supporting the claim yourself!

You missed out the important part that I've italicised. The EU negotiator, as is usual with EU bureaucrats, was spouting nonsense.
Equally I doubt it would be the case that they intended for countries to create havoc by indicating they want to leave, negotiating to leave, then not being able to get the deal approved to actually leave and being stuck in a no man's land.
It's always been about domestic policy.
So go after The Don and others to provide links for their lists of claims too.You are in this forum for how many years ? The one advancing the claim is the one which has to provide the evidence. Heck it is basic polite discussion to provide the link.
