If you say you love your wife…then I will assume you love your wife.

Why?...could it possibly be because that is what those words mean??????

No

As I've explained, it's because we take linguistic shortcuts for social reasons.

It has nothing to do with evidence of proof.

If you say you love your wife…then I will assume you love your wife.

I'm currently having a conversation on Skype with Zeus and Paul Atreides. Will you assume that I am?

I mean, what possible other meaning could those words have?????

If you travel down the list you will discover that you yourself flatly contract what you state above.

I travel down the list and I see a different elaboration than what you characterize. I, not you, will be the authority on what my argument is and how the pieces of it fit together. I won't rehearse all the factors that have applied to it, since you haven't read enough of this thread to appreciate it.

Your formal qualifications in cognitive science, please?

Is that the best you can do....complain that I haven't answered an utterly useless question. I don't need an MSc in molecular biology to establish that you're being dishonest! I don't need a PhD in philosophy to establish that you constantly contradict yourself! I don't need to work at the faculty of life sciences to establish that your arguments are garbage.

...all I need is words. They're right there in black and white. They mean the same thing whether I'm the king of the world or a drunk on skid row!

Yeah of course Hokulele…if I change the search parameter to “near death experience” the number drops to ONLY 3,010,000.

That is not the parameter I told you to search. Once again, are you being deliberately misleading, or are you failing to use the search engine properly?

You may note, if you actually bother to make the effort to click on any of those 3 million+ links, they aren't about what is being claimed in the slightest.

Why would you need to assume anything, if the statement itself had evidentiary value as to the hypothesis of whether or not I loved my wife?

Where has any hypothesis been introduced???? You have just said you love your wife. Is there any conceivable reason between here and eternity why I should come to some other conclusion but that the words mean what the words mean??????

...ummm...you said to change the parameter to “near death experience”. The link is right there.

This changes the argument not one whit! The conclusion remains the same: NDE anecdotal evidence is used to support / dismiss scientific hypothesis. All I need to do is locate a single study (that means 'ONE' in case you're counting) that confirms this argument..and I have not the slightest doubt that I can locate far more than that). Your argument has been established to be garbage here, and it has been established to be garbage on the specific thread over in the science section where the specific issue of anecdotal relevance has been discussed.

...so we're once again back to the question which you have now avoided... what is it...6...7...times.

Are...or are not...the words you just wrote in your post evidence of what you were thinking / feeling / experiencing when you wrote them???

...to which we can now add the question:

Why are you so afraid of answering this question???

I explained why it's not a useless question in the context of this discussion. Now may I please have my answer?

...and I explained...very clearly...why it is a useless question, to which you had no response. As of right now, nothing has changed.

Incorrect. Please re-read my post. Do note, quote marks (") mean something specific when creating searches, so the quotes I used do not indicate what should go in the search engine, but how to properly format a search.

Again, have you vetted any of the links you are touting as support of your point? I mean, if you really believe a tour guide of Washington, DC demonstrates any non-physical origin of an NDE, well ... yeah.

...and I explained...very clearly...why it is a useless question...

No you didn't. You told me you would discuss your qualifications if I explained why they would be relevant to the discussion. I did so in a post several days ago, to which you did not respond. Your latest offering claims you don't need qualifications in order to dispute my posts, however that doesn't even address -- much less rebut -- the reasons I listed for relevance. My reasons had nothing to do with whether I or anyone else contributes to this thread.

Why are you afraid of answering questions relating to your qualifications?

...now you're being dishonest. You know very well what the questions were. They have been answered. Both here and in the other thread. If you want to start a thread about the specific's of NDE's...go right ahead. That is not what is being discussed here so pretending that it is ...is being dishonest.

You mean, other than the bruises?

(Shrug) Shade-tree scientists- what can you do? I know that if I want to learn something about cognitive science, the first person I'm gonna turn to is someone who thinks that "all I need is words" (like "adjuticate," such a cool word when you say it over and over).

No, the whole reason anecdotes as evidence is being discussed is specifically due to the lack thereof for NDEs. You may want to re-read the previous dozen or so pages. You were the one claiming that 3 million+ hits in Google scholar supported the notion that anecdotes were accepted as scientific evidence when it comes to NDE studies.

This was shown to be a dishonest claim. That is all.

Sure.

I love my wife.

I have no wife.

Resolve these claims.
