I'm not surprised you don't understand my meaning. Yes it was very close in votes. I'm talking about your loss of the Senate, also the next Senate race in two years, how bad that looks. Your loss of taking the court, we'll actually gain seats there when Ginsburg croaks.

This was a very pivotal election for both sides, you will realize how bad it truly is for your side.;)

Trump got 1% more of the white vote, but that may not be significant. Incredibly, Trump did 8% better among Latinos than Romney. Apparently much better among low income people and whites without a college degree. Women was almost unchanged, but men went more for Trump (or perhaps against Hillary). Some people had a hard time accepting that. I don't know if this election proves that "America hates women" but maybe it proves that America hates Hillary Clinton. Whether that is rational or not.

I do not understand this comment, particularly the words "although" and "NYT data." The whole point is comparing 2012 to 2016, and these are the exit polls, so we are not, strictly speaking, talking about "NYT data." I also updated my links because the NYT did not break down vote share (Whites were a larger share of respondents in 2012 than in 2016).

As for white women, Obama got 42%; Clinton got 43%.

Both Clinton and Trump are shown receiving lower percentages of the white vote than Obama and Romney. Whites are generally more likely to vote for third parties, which did better this election cycle than previously.

Clearly not, and I hadn't suggested that he had, only that he sounded more presidential than at any time during the election campaign.

I doubt any of those apologies will be forthcoming.

Then please don't suggest that somehow Donald Trump, who's been Donald Trump for 70 years, is suddenly not going to be Donald Trump. Please don't imagine that if we only let it simmer on the stove a little longer a frying pan of feces is going to turn into sirloin steak.

It's often said that campaign promises are one thing, but when one wins office the reality sets in. I for one and going to remain optimistic, until proved otherwise, that the realities of governing are going to temper Trumps policies somewhat and that he'll wind up being a better president at least than George W Bush. (not a particularly high bar to clear)

I'm not expecting him to turn into something he's not.

I find it strange. I've spent most of my life in marketing and sales. I've always known that you could take feces.(sorry, the mods will allow this word but not the common word) put it in a bun and give it a pretty description and some people would buy it. I just never knew you could brazenly and openly sell **** sandwiches and people would eat it.

I get that people didn't like Hillary but in God's name how can anyone like a a lying cheating turd like Trump? I'm flabbergasted. This guy is clearly and OBVIOUSLY a scumbag. Virtually NO REDEEMING QUALITIES. So tell me world. WTF, WHY?

Three small towns in rural America. Each has a population of 10,000. The combined population is 30,000. How many job openings are locally available to them? 1,000,000.

I always thought Hillary was a mistake even though I like her. She just doesn't have the personal touch that comes across on the stage or tv. I supported Bernie in the primaries and would have preferred Joe Biden or Elizabeth Warren. Both are better candidates than Hillary

But I think Hillary explains only part of it. There has to be something about Trump that makes people knowingly eat his crap and go "yummy, I want some more". Sort of the way many women are attracted to the bad boy that THEY KNOW IS A LYING CHEATING BASTARD and ignore any good men they encounter.

No, It's been clear for decades that Trump is the guy who will sleep with your wife, brag about it and not care. And people knew all this **** and they voted for the bastard anyway.
