Merged Project Veritas strikes again / More evidence...

Every person who has been found out, along with their supporters have probably said the same thing.

Uhm, I think a few resigned. I don't think all of them were fired. If I was bothered with ******** videos that's the first thing I'd do as well. The election is almost over, why risk giving the person you want in the White House more bad press by clinging to something like that? No reason, step down, have them hire you next election.

Wouldn't it be better not to be involved with things like that? Ends justify the means, correct?

There has yet to be a single newsworthy story from either the leaked emails or the O'Keefe videos.

Well that's an interesting angle, you mean nothing illegal? Yet!

Besides, they've been all over the news, the media has been dragged kicking and screaming.

These videos and emails will haunt her presidency. This is going to take some time to sort out, much longer than the short two weeks we have to go.

They have served the purpose in exposing these people for what they are.

Never said that she doesn't lie. However, it's a demonstrable fact that he lies so much in the debate, it might be easier to just count when he's telling the truth. He lies so much that one has to assume that when he's telling the truth it is purely unintentional.

In fact, he lies so much that you're safer assuming that he lies whenever he says anything.

None of that is newsworthy.

An investigative journalist would abide by some basic ethical rules like "you don't get to pick the story", "try to remove your own biases" and "you are not the story."

As someone who occasionally dabbles in citizen journalism, I'm insulted by the use of that term in connection with him if it isn't preceded by the word "cowardly."

ETA: He did a hack job on a man who showed incredible moral fortitude in suckering him into more details so he could properly alert the authorities to some egregious claims. I have no faith in his ability to present edited video in a way that conveys the true spirit of the events that are portrayed. Don't hide behind some variation of "well no outlet is totally unbiased in all cases", has O'Keefe ever not made his footage into a hack job?

See the difference?

I've been in amateur journalism, event coverage, and scripted narrative (TV/film) projects for a few years, now.

Photos, especially with captions or stories heavily implying context, are so easy to mislead as to the nature of the events being illustrated.

Video, as soon as you see a cut, it means someone didn't want you to see something. Sometimes it's because the content was below a grade worthy of showing (entertainment), sometimes because it is production related and meta to the topic or "breaks the fourth wall" (camera tests, pre-roll/slating, etc). Even for the concision needed in today's news environments, maybe just to focus in on the most relevant information (rare, these days) or what creates the most shock value, the ever-necessary "sound bite." Now, these are (mostly) valid practices that make sense. But they are mostly cut-downs for fast-paced environments.

"Investigative" pieces or documentaries go into narrative style. You're using the recordings to tell a story, make a point, drive emotional responses through character development, timely reveals, and satisfying conclusions. Well, sometimes the point is to leave you with unsatisfying conclusions. When done well, you question yourself, when done accusingly, to question certain "others." Even experienced video people can't necessarily describe "how could this sentence mean anything else?" (from someone who just heard it in a heavily implied context). They could, if given the raw footage, likely make into 40 different products, some educational, some comedy, perhaps a slow-building dramatic whodunit, anything. Also, it really is not that hard to get dialogue you want to implicate others. You invert the premise in a discussion for a moment, for example. "Ok, give me an example of something you would not be comfortable doing", then bait them along playing "devil's advocate" for a moment.

Or sometimes it really is simple to just present an entire exchange with a guy who appears to be helping smuggle underage girls over the border, but forget to mention that one tiny little detail about him calling the Attorney General about you as soon as you walked out of his office.

First of all, you're not interested in meaningful debate and I've already said Trump isn't much different than hillary, although she is clearly worse and more dangerous. So no not interested to see if one has more lies than the other, I've actually got things to do. ;)
Loggerese to English translation: I'm not willing to put my claim to the test because it will show that I'm foisting nonsense. I prefer to stay in my fact-free bubble and toss out neener-neeners.

You're free to do it yourself. ;)

I suppose all that ^ would have to ignore what is on the videos and the two men fired (well one taking a step back) but hey, nothing new with my skeptics.

We can't even pin the perps when my liberal skeptics do their best to be in utter complete denial, good, its better this way.

Investigative journalism and O'keefe don't belong in the same sentence.

Well, we can't really put anyone in that sentence since none is being done. Hillary has a race to win you know, can't mess that up

I never dreamed to see so much denial on a skeptics forum.

& should Clinton gain the White House, the Republicans will go farther right.

I'm not ignoring the videos, I'm applying my experience with video manipulation techniques and prior experience with the presenter's total lack of adherence to ethical journalistic principles.

See, skeptic means we don't accept premises out of hand or on their face, instead looking for alternative explanations and considering plausibility. So when you say our balking at the video means we aren't skeptics, you have it 100% backwards. If I accepted O'Keefe's ACORN video on its face, then I'd think a good man who did the right thing was a disgusting sex slave trafficker. Thankfully I question things and know the truth.

Yeah. Testify, Brother Logger! Can't wait until the morning of the 9th, can you? You're going to have the last laugh on all the dumm libruls when Trump sweeps into office on the Herculean get out the vote efforts of you and the boys down at Jimmy Johns Quick Lube, Bait and Ammo.

Oh, boy will we look silly.

I seriously doubt you'd have the same conclusions if these videos were about Donald Trump.

You can't even say that these videos look pretty bad, or that these two stars who were fired, yeah that looks kinda bad.

Can you get serious for once?
