Trump runs for POTUS/ Trumped Up! Part VI

"Trump" is not just a name, but also an English word. I suspect that there are products and perhaps companies with "Trump" in the name that are not associated with Donald, some perhaps predating his existence. It's hard to find out with a web search though, for obvious reasons.

I agree with your premise to a point. Yet, I have seen for example the IOC send many cease and desist letters to businesses in my State of Washington who use the word Olympic or Olympics in their name. FYI, there is large part of the State which is the Olympic Peninsula.

Granted most businesses tossed the letter into the garbage as lots of them had been using the word for years. Scion hotels would be new and perhaps wouldn't have as good of counter argument. I'm not an expert on trademark law, I'm just speculating.

So is the Poker world, and the world of most card games, where "trump" is a common term.

Ah, now that you mention that I do remember "Trump" playing cards, and found this: http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/a...fights-to-protect-and-expand-his-brand-s-name

In 2006, Trump filed an opposition to a mark registered almost 30 years earlier by United States Playing Card, which registered the mark “Trump” for cards in 1978. He argued in filings that the trademark for playing cards had fallen out of use, and was holding up his “application to register the mark TRUMP in connection with 'board games.'” He later abandoned his opposition effort.

Also of interest in that article:

In 2007, he asked the USPTO for an extension on his right to block a registration by his daughter, Ivanka, though he never filed an appeal. He asked the agency to maintain his right to block her from using the Trump name for “hotel services, restaurant services, and health spa services.” Ivanka abandoned her application in 2008.

THis comes under the category of "When your opponent is destroying himself, don't interfere;just stand back and let him do it".
I was thinking more long term. Just let the facts in the news that these terrorist were Trump supporters speak for itself.
And, anyway, you know Donald is going to be asked about it. The logical thing to do is to denounce the terrorists, condemn them and say you have no control over who says they support you,but my own betting is Donald won';t do that but dodge the question, or claim it is a fake, part of the conspiracy to bring him down.

Elsewhere someone posted this as being Clinton's view:

The New Yorker is reporting:
Calling the Republican nominee’s behavior “completely indefensible,” the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, cancelled a joint campaign appearance with Donald Trump scheduled for Monday. Putin, who had been scheduled to campaign alongside Trump at a rally in Columbus, Ohio, said that he would make no joint appearances with the billionaire for the remainder of the campaign.

“As the father of two daughters, I cannot condone or defend Mr. Trump’s behavior,” the Russian leader said in a curt official statement.

Appearing on CNN, Trump’s campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, attempted to downplay the Putin defection by claiming that Trump still has the support of many other totalitarian dictators. Article link

It's a comedy piece by writer/comedian Andy Borowitz. :)

And the Trump Machine rolls ahead in Ohio....

Let's fight with the head of the GOP in a state that you HAVE to win to have a shot on winning the election, a state where your opponent has much better ground game then you do, and you need Party support to have a chance of competing......

Brilliant move Donald, Brilliant Move.

Oddly that gave a 404 error, but when I googled: politico donald-trump-campaign-ohio-gop-chairman-matt-borges it gave me what is obviously the same story but with a different end number:

I wonder if Putin, who, as evil as he is,is not stupid, will begin to dial down his support for Trump as it becomes clearer that Donald is headed for defeat. Vlad the Impaler can't afford to burn all his bridges to Hilary Clinton.
Historically, a number of foreign politicians have tried to play in US Domestic Waters. It has never turned out well for them.

At the moment, I fully expect Trump to attempt to bite Clinton's ear off at the next debate.

Given his defense of Mike Tyson, and that it was only with difficulty that GOP officials kept Trump from having Tyson as one of the speakers at the GOP convention, I think that is a real possibility.

I am beginning to buy into the theory that he knows he is going to lose, and is now building up the core audience to this television network with Roger AIles and Bannon as his Network heads.

It's hard to say what his game is. Either

1) He knows he is going to lose, so he's setting himself up well with his core followers for some future business venture,

or

2) He's in a state of arrested development and needs constant positive feedback to support his enormous, yet fragile, ego, and so plays only to people who will tell him how wonderful he is.

I'm betting on number 2, but number 1 cannot be ruled out.

What can be rules out is that he is behaving rationally.

ETA: To be fair, if option 1 above is true, then he is behaving rationally, but not honestly.

Putin and Trump have been in bed together for a very long time. The underlying conditions for this financial bromance will continue long after Trump's defeat, and Putin's strategy of propping up repulsive Alt/right racist politicians in the West isn't necessarily contingent on them winning.

The man has the thinnest skin of any political candidate I've ever seen. The man attacks anyone and everyone that might have slighted him. This may be the number one reason not to vote for Trump. He has the temperament of a crazed toddler. Hillary Clinton knew just how to beat her opponent. Just tick him off and sit back and watch him commit political suicide.

Kelly Ann Conway has to think this is the worst gig she's ever had....Her sane approach brought Trump back from the abyss when he was hurtling towards it at light speed when he was attacking a gold star family. She brought discipline to the campaign and helped Trump close to within a couple of points. Only to see her efforts wasted.

I'd like to personally thank every Republican primary voter who made this idiot the nominee.

Let's just say it's the leading indicator of who he really is.

On that note, I'd like to offer a different perspective for the few Republicans who are still reading this thread.

I was very tempted to vote for Romney in 2012. However, I though we needed national health care, and Romney had to run on repealing it, and would have had to sign any repeal handed him by the Republicans. I knew all the problems with Obamacare, but I thought it had to be done, so I voted for Obama in both 2008 and 2012.

Nevertheless, I liked the Republican candidates those years, and I was prepared to vote Republican this time around. Unfortunately, the crazy wing of your party took over, and you gave us a severely damaged candidate. I actually voted in the Republican primary this year, for the first time in my life, for John Kasich.

If your party can say no to the crazy people, i.e. the ones at the Trump rallies, I could see myself pulling that elephant lever. This year, no way would I consider it.
