Trump runs for POTUS / Trumped Up! Part V

It could be very serious.

Note he doesn't say "stay at your polling place and watch the voters there". They'll mostly be voters just like them - white. No, they should go where they can watch people who aren't white like them.

True the Vote has been trying this for the past few elections. It doesn't generally work well.

Yeah, Manheim has about 32 black people (that's not hyperbole) so I doubt there are any "black districts". He must be thinking of marching on Lancaster or Harrisburg. Need to make sure we can spot our, er, poll watchers, though. Maybe if we all wear long white bedsheets.

I wasn't sure who "she" was until I looked at the link. Here we go again!
Speaking to a crowd of nearly 5,000 in Pennsylvania on Saturday night, Trump made some of his wildest accusations yet about his opponent and the integrity of American elections. Trump attacked his Democratic rival in starkly personal terms. He said of her “she has bad temperament, she could actually be crazy” and went on to imply that she had been unfaithful for her husband. “I don’t even think she’s loyal to Bill, if you want to know the truth. And really folks, why should she be, right,” Trump said. The Republican nominee whose rallies have long included loud chants of “lock her up” directed towards Clinton, said bluntly on Saturday “she should be in prison”.
He also hit on "voter fraud."
Trump also warned of the specter of voter fraud without evidence, revisiting accusations he first made in August that there will be voter fraud in “certain areas” of Pennsylvania, a statement that was a clear dog-whistle about African American areas of Philadelphia. “Watch your polling booths, because I hear too many stories about Pennsylvania, certain areas,” the Republican nominee told the almost exclusively white crowd in Manheim. He added “we can’t lose an election because you know what I am talking about”.

Portrait of a Trump acolyte:
She was a 52-year-old woman who had worked 20 years for the railroad, had once been a Democrat and was now a Republican, and counted herself among the growing swath of people who occupied the fringes of American politics but were increasingly becoming part of the mainstream. Like millions of others, she believed that President Obama was a Muslim. And like so many she had gotten to know online through social media, she also believed that he was likely gay, that Michelle Obama could be a man, and that the Obama children were possibly kidnapped from a family now searching for them.

What a surprise! An electoral campaign based on hatred is boiling down to, guess what, just hatred!

With polls uniformly pointing that 57% of likely voters hold feelings for Clinton ranging from distrust to plain abhorrence, as well "another" 57% of likely voters hold the very same feelings regarding Trump, I guess that the campaign has come to a point when they have to address that +14% who hates both just to get the "vote me! you know that, deep in your heart, you hate her/him more than you hate me".

That Trump is embracing positive hatred and Clinton negative hatred is not a surprise. It's also gender oriented and likely to get the best results for both.

Any resemblance with a modern democracy is just mere coincidence.

...However, Trump could deflect the criticism by truthfully stating (as he already has) that he was just using the rules to his advantage--his 'skill' as a businessman (really his accountant's skill)...

With all due respect I think there's a bit of a reality disconnect here. In order to set this thing in motion, first he had to use his "skill as a businessman" to make investments that lost massive amounts of money. Second, the IRS doesn't pay a bonus for losing close to a billion dollars in one year, the carry forward provisions of the tax code allow businesses to get tax credits for losses. After they use the credits to recoup the losses they're really back where they started. I don't see any gain. Most of the really smart businessmen I've worked for would probably ask, "Why bother?"

In fact, based on comments I heard Trump make -- years ago, long before he decided to run for president -- you actually don't entirely recoup your loss because you get it back over a period of years and inflation eats away at the value of some of the money. If Trump claims a $50 million tax credit on his 2005 return -- based on losses in 1995 -- those 2005 dollars do not have the same value as the 1995 dollars did. (He mentioned on a talk show years ago it was "smart to finance with debt." His example was: if you borrow $25 million in 2000 for a business project, when you pay the principal back in 2010 or 2015 the money will be worth less.)

The other question of course is were they actually his losses or the loses of investors and stiffed creditors? That's what I think he considers "smart" just like he apparently considered using a charitable foundations money for his own legal obligations "smart".

Is it me or is Trump so unimaginative as to simply take things that were said about him and ascribe them to Clinton. We might be one or two rants away from hearing Trump say that Clinton called up newspapers, pretended to be someone else, and told reporters that she was dating the most attractive men because so is just so damned hot.

In the statement the Trump campaign put out regarding the tax returns the Times published. They didn't try and claim the returns were phony and said Trump's "fiduciary responsibility" to his investors requires him to pay the minimum amount of taxes. Then they went on to make a CT claim:
“The only news here is that...the New York Times, like establishment media in general, is an extension of the Clinton campaign, the Democratic party and their global special interests.”

That's scary. If it wasn't for independent and constitutionally protected news organizations like the New York Times there would be so much about Trump (and Clinton too) that we would never know. What would happen to freedom of the press under a Trump administration? Very scary to imagine.

This is the Trump thread so, yup, that's what stanfr's talking about. :)

Trump probably thinks he's a genius because he can understand what "real interest rate" means. As a concept it's at his limit.

When he borrows $25m the cash he'll get is net of fees and charges, but he'll still owe (and pay interest on) the full $25m. That's an element of the real interest rate that he probably doesn't grasp, and, of course, acts to increase it. Do you recall him mentioning that? (I kid : of course he didn't.)

Out of curiosity if the almost a billion loss was from one of his bankruptcies surely he wouldn't then be able to use it as a tax right off for future businesses?

He may have a conservative majority on the Supreme Court but they aren't going to do his bidding on the First Amendment. They love their country and its constitution, not Trump. It's Trump who loves Trump, not his country or that other thing.

Wow, seriously, voter vigilantism?!?!?
'Hey, after you and your friends vote for me, go to another polling place and see if you can intimidate other voters'
