Fox has Clinton up by 5. Trump had/continues to have a disastrous week. Looks like momentum has shifted back to Clinton.

I am unsure what that means. Might you elaborate?

Is outlawing pornography (consenting adults willing to be photographed) a conservative family value from your perspective? I ask because many high-ranking Republicans believe it is.
Abortion?
Gay marriage?
Gay adoption?

Porn (for adults only) that is not excessively deviant (bestiality etc) is ok.
I am fine with abortion.
Gay marriage and adoption makes me a bit uneasy about long term direction of society, but I understand it and am tolerant of it.

That said, I think a stable society needs a solid conservative middle class who may be less tolerant and understanding than I am.

Then you are not for the USA Republican party's family values.

Meanwhile the Dallas News endorses a Democrat for the first time since the 1930s

it continues...

The Arizona Republic alsoendorses Clinton, the first Democrat since it started publication in 1890

USA today endorses a candidate (or rather states that one is unfit for President) fo the first time in its history

http://www.usatoday.com/story/opini...-editorial-board-editorials-debates/91295020/

In the 34-year history of USA TODAY, the Editorial Board has never taken sides in the presidential race. Instead, we’ve expressed opinions about the major issues and haven’t presumed to tell our readers, who have a variety of priorities and values, which choice is best for them. Because every presidential race is different, we revisit our no-endorsement policy every four years. We’ve never seen reason to alter our approach. Until now.

This year, the choice isn’t between two capable major party nominees who happen to have significant ideological differences. This year, one of the candidates — Republican nominee Donald Trump — is, by unanimous consensus of the Editorial Board, unfit for the presidency.

What would be the impact of such historic rejections of Trump?

That is my observation as well.

I appreciate your answering, PartSkeptic, but I am no closer to understanding what you mean by "I am a Republican with regard to conservative family values, and Democrat with regard to social justice."

I am a bit curious about the political leanings of the stable society that you describe, are there any examples you can point to (historical or present)? Would such a society have approximately even numbers of conservatives and liberals or are you describing something very different?

Victorian Britain is, I think, a good example. A prosperous middle class to which the working class could aspire, conservative but not hidebound, moderate even in their moderation. And very stable.

And crushing poverty for many.

It's what made the Empire great

Except when the poverty was so great for so many, with the attendant ill health that that they had to form bantam divisions in the Great War.
