Trump runs for POTUS / Trumped Up! Part V

But why do you believe this in face of contrary evidence?

Because the contrary evidence that has been presented is nonsense. Mostly, it's just wishful thinking on the part of a columnist who is anti-Trump. And it completely contradicts everything I know from my 21 years working in finance.

Trump is not a big player in the New York real estate industry, and most of his income for decades has come from licensing his name to other developers' projects for fat fees.

Even Fortune magazine concedes he is worth several billions dollars. A billionaire, even a skin-flint one, is a trophy client for a bank. Trump is even more valuable than his wealth would indicate because of his flamboyance and notoriety, which creates lots of opportunities for deal-making. His run for President has probably been a mixed bag, since he has generated a lot of ill will, but before that his celebrity status was pretty much all positive (as far as a bank is concerned).

He has taken six companies into bankruptcy, which is a big red flag to all potential lenders, and has a long history of shady behavior. Why do you think bankers would be panting to hand him their money? Why do you think they need Trump?

In the banking business nobody cares what happened 10 years ago, let alone 25. Some of the people trying to solicit his business were in high school the last time he had a bankruptcy. Furthermore, the bankers doing the deals aren't on the hook for the long-term performance of their loans. They get the credit (and their bonuses) upfront. That's why banking suffers from short-sightedness all the time. Memories are very, very short on Wall Street, and the people you screw over successfully are usually gone in short order anyway. It's always a clean slate with their successors.

10K is a lot for a 400lb hacker sitting on his bed.

Donald knew he was spewing BS on the stage there.

All of which makes Donald Trump’s repeated insertion of himself into the U.S.-Russia story all the more startling. Trump has praised Putin during the campaign, and at the first presidential debate, on Sept. 26, he said it wasn’t clear the Russians were behind the DNC hack. But the U.S. intelligence community has “high confidence” that Russian intelligence services were in fact responsible, multiple intelligence and national security officials tell TIME. Trump was informed of that assessment during a recent classified intelligence briefing, a U.S. official familiar with the matter tells TIME. “I do not comment on information I receive in intelligence briefings, however, nobody knows with definitive certainty that this was in fact Russia,” Trump told TIME in a statement. “It may be, but it may also be China, another country or individual.”

Maybe so, but what you really need is somebody at the IRS willing to lose his job.

Plenty would probably be willing to lose their jobs. Hundreds must quit or retire routinely every month. But nobody wants to go to prison.
In the age of Edward Snowden and the Internet troublemaker Anonymous, we wondered exactly why Trump’s tax returns have not come to light. One big obstacle is that leaking confidential tax records is against the law, punishable by a $5,000 fine, up to five years in jail or both.

It wouldn't be hard, and would likely get bipartisan support, to pass legislation requiring any candidate who is eligible to receive federal matching funds (whether they accept the money or not) to release their returns publicly, maybe with quarterly updates.

Many of his antics are far more recent:
One of Donald Trump’s companies prepared financial estimates for its lenders and investors that were “rosier” than the projections it used internally, a financial analyst for the company said in a deposition obtained by BuzzFeed News.

Nobody needs Trump's business. Why do you think they would choose to deal with somebody that they know will try to screw them?

It's not that banks won't do business with Trump - it's just that he has a terrible credit score due to his bankruptcies.
It is entirely possible that Trump wants to be president to force the banks to give him better deals.

Running for President is his Ardennes Offensive.

People think that Holt went hard on Trump because of political outlook. The real reason is Trump has no idea how to handle a controversy without arguing about it.

True. It gets even worse for him when he decides to go after non-political "opponents." We saw it with the Khans and Judge Curiel. We're seeing it again with his bizarre plan to defend his fat shaming of Alicia Machado. He must win and shame his adversary. Even when the stakes aren't worth it for him.

That's what happens when you're an idiot with a personality disorder.

In general, he does seem to be on a desperate, all-out, last retreat forward, as if wielding power will allow him to put in all the fixes he increasingly seems to need. If elected, he will either have a temper tantrum after finding out he is the President, not God, that is so bad that he is removed from office for medical reasons, or he will be impeached for succeeding initially at blatant coercion and corruption.

If he wins, he's going to sweep in a cadre of like minded Teabaggers with him. Unless they're willing to turn against Trump for the greater good of party and Country, he's not in any danger of impeachment until the mid-term elections are over. Even then, the odds are in his favor. He has a long track record of abusing whatever power he has. Do you think for one red hot second he won't use government resources to attack and destroy anyone who poses a threat to his power during the mid-term elections?

That gets us to the second term election. He's going to have a sympathetic congress, a SCOTUS whose inconvenient rulings are being ignored, and a government he's packed to the gills with his stooges and lickspittles. As long as he stays on good terms with Russia, he'll also have their hackers working to dig up dirt on Trump's opposition.

It will be during the second term that Trump will decide if he wants to pus for a constitutional amendment to allow him to run for a third term.

When he finally leaves office, the consequences will be similar to the ones faced by the businesses he leaves. Once the blustering idiot barking orders leaves, the gilding will flake off the turds and everyone will finally see the **** that everything has already gone to. Trump and his lickspittles will blame whoever comes after Trump.

Given his age and the stress of the presidency, he'll likely die of age related illnesses before the *************** he left behind is cleaned up enough to even THINK about going after him for all the laws he broke while in office, assuming we haven't just splintered, shattered and been divided up between neighboring counties.
