Trump runs for POTUS / Trumped Up! Part V

another thing done by Republicans, who love to be the Nanny-state for those they don't like or trust.
At least they don't think like progressives do, that the best way to help a drug addict is to fund their addiction, no questions asked.

But expecting a business partner to open their books isn't nannyism, it's just good business sense.

The nanny state comes into the picture when government arrogates to itself the responsibility of managing the private affaire of its citizens, on their behalf

And another case where the same thing is evil when one party does it but wise if the others do it.

Where are your principles?

I am quoting your post because I think it is more important than soft drink laws.

Trump still hasn't denied his birtherism. Yesterday, he refused to answer a direct question by saying that he will give an answer at the right time. Furthermore, the press release accuses Clinton of starting birtherism.

What's next? A claim that Clinton invented bone spurs? A claim that Clinton invented hiding one's tax returns?

Very quick prediction of what Trump will say about birtherism, since he's already starting to talk:
1. He will NOT say he was wrong. He will not flatly state that Obama is a natural born citizen. He'll hedge and equivocate. He'll say "probably".
2. He won't apologize, in fact he'll brag about what a wonderful thing he did for the country by appealing to its basest instincts and playing up to racists like Joe Arpaio. After all, he was Just Asking Questions.
3. He'll blame the whole controversy on Hillary, personally. Despite that being an utter falsehood.
4. And his supporters here will agree with the latter.

ETA: Or he'll just blow off the whole thing, contrary to what his campaign has promised.

5. He will become angry when the press points out that he was championing birtherism as late as 2015.

No, but spent a lot of time around Joe Jamail. Tough man for sure, but never like that. That I saw.

Joe was quite brilliant. I never worked with him but I would not be surprised to find he was exceptional in this regard as well. I'm jealous that you spent significant time around him. Must have been an experience.

I have worked at or with several large firms and every one has at some point or another said "we just don't put up with yelling and other typical bad lawyer behavior." That they have to say it confirms how common such behavior is. My personal experience with it is distant, but memorable.

Here he goes: "Hillary Clinton and her campaign of 2008 started the birther movement. I finished it." CNN quoted him as saying he believed it, I must have missed that part.

Trump lies again. And in other surprising news, the sun rose in the East this morning.

Even in January of 2016, Trump was still saying he didn’t know if Obama was a citizen.

“Who knows,” he told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer when asked if Obama was a citizen. “Who knows? Who cares right now? We’re talking about something else, OK. I mean, I have my own theory on Obama. Someday I’ll write a book. I’ll do another book, and it will do very successfully.”

Donald's main conspiracies about Obama that led to his rise to political prominence: Secret Kenyan, secret Muslim and secret Affirmative Action student. If only there was something that tied these together. :eusa_think:

The Secret?

Well Donald has answered the question if he could separate his business ties if he becomes president this morning.

What'd I miss?

Pretended he was going to have a press conference on his backing off being a birther instead attempted to make it an ad for his DC hotel. Fittingly the backdrop literally collapsed on this event.

Aw man, I missed that for what? A meeting at work?

pfft... real life. What a drag

It was a political rickroll. Not worth it. Didn't clear up his birtherism since nothing had changed in the last eight months but now we're supposed to believe he's not a birther. Press conference didn't happen since follow up questions would be awkward for him to answer. Based on his past statements on the issue, he should now donate $5 million to charity and release his tax returns.
