Trump runs for POTUS / Trumped Up! Part IV

You know, you could say, "White, uneducated working class" in fewer words and with less bigotry. Basic decency cuts both ways.

Hey, I'm white and have spent a whole lot of time in those communities. Most of those people aren't really bad and many are the salt of the earth if you get to know them. And personally if we're not talking about race I'd rather hang out with them then the people on 5th Avenue.

These are the people that have been hurt the most from globalization and modernization. Unfortunately, they've been sold a bill of goods from the right wing and alt right groups. It's the liberals and their race mixing policies that have screwed them over instead of the real truth. Which is slick corporate America with an avarice that cannot be quenched.

Latest Trumper comeback this morning on MSNBC after his broken record denial that hiring the Alt-Reich Bannon to head Trump's campaign had any implications that Trump has similar views: "Well Clinton supports Planned Parenthood and Margaret Sanger advocated eugenics."

I'm not making this up.

Joy Reid had the balls to tell him she would not allow such a ludicrous discussion. Usually they let these people give their stump speeches.

Ironic isn't? That somebody who self-righteously declares the word "retard" to be beyond the pale is so free with the ethnic slurs? Ironic, but unsurprising. I think self-righteousness and hypocrisy are practically inseparable.

I wasn't questioning whether you were prejudiced against uneducated, White working class. I was pointing out that your description of these people was not much better than calling Mexican immigrants "beaners" or anyone a "retard". Surely, you don't want to be offensive for no reason more than political difference.

Sorry, does "Trumper" mean "Donald Trump" or "one who supports Donald Trump"?

If the former, it would be a bit clearer if you would write "Trump" rather than "Trumper". Thanks.

Interesting. Because I detect a wee bit of self-righteousness in this post. Shall I draw the obvious conclusion?

That's what some in the right wing blogosphere are suggesting. The Trump Network. An Alt-right news network to compete with Fox for the dwindling paleo-conservative demographic. It's a Bannon wet dream.

It will air in his secret states.

The guy he "used" to be was making a living selling his name to developers he couldn't care less about to attract rubes who didn't know any better to put deposits on buildings that would never be finished. The Presidency has been FANTASTIC for his business because now everyone knows his name and 30% of people still like him.

It's actually been bad for his business. Link posted upthread.

To be fair, his political team deleted the tweet and sent out a new one to fix it.

"It" meaning the spelling error.

A new candidate has emerged in the who posted that tweet to his account game. The crass, after his ghoulish delight in the event tweet, offering of condolences tweet came from an IPad. Now we have Android: Donald, IPhone: staff and IPad: Kellyanne(?).

A useful link on this subject.

Reid seems to be pretty good at this. I'm hoping that once election season ends, she'll end up being a good replacement for MHP.

Hmmm. Well, perhaps you can explain the self-righteousness in my post? I am always eager for constructive criticism.

...The Trump Network. An Alt-right news network to compete with Fox for the dwindling paleo-conservative demographic...

As Darat pointed out, Trump doesn't have the money. Not to compete with Fox, anyway. That level of investment would take hundreds of millions of dollars. I was thinking more along the lines of a cable network such as the one Sarah Palin put up? (Does her 'network' still exist; I have no idea. I never knew anyone who watched it. In fact, I never heard of anyone who watched it.)

They'll put something together along the lines of One America News Network or Newsmax TV but catered to racists and not just those that think facts have a liberal bias. One skill Donald has is getting suckers to give him money so it's not like he'll be putting any meaningful capital up anyway.

It is a stereotype and it is unfair. I went over the top. Sorry. That said, I feel like Trump is damaging his brand by his racial and hyperbolic rhetoric. The people he is appealing to today are not potential buyers for the products he's been selling.

Sure. You suggest that the self-righteous are hypocrites (at least, this holds practically speaking).

There are two possibilities.

(1) You regard yourself as better than hypocrites. In this respect, your post is itself self-righteous, suggesting that you exemplify a higher standard than hypocrites. Hence, by your own suggestion, you are almost certainly a hypocrite.

(2) You do not regard yourself as better than hypocrites. This may be because you're a hypocrite, or equally bad in some other way. In either case, I must admit that there is no self-righteousness here, despite what I earlier said, but it certainly follows that you are no better than a hypocrite (at least according to your self-perception).

Clearly Trumpers and Trumpettes are spokespersons while the Trumpster is the Donald himself. :p

A good and reasonable concession. Nice to see in the Politics section.

Add to that the bigger picture: what in the hell kind of candidate running for office has to figure out his positions during the campaign in the first place? How can you support a candidate that even HAS TO "pivot" to appear like a legitimate candidate?

Are you really supporting a candidate because you think they can be molded into someone who will do what you want? That's not a candidate, that's play-doh.

Jeez, Hillary gets criticized for having her positions determined by polling. Here, the Trump campaign is basing their whole friggin strategy on doing that!

This is just a sign of how absolutely stupid the republicans have been in this campaign. They haven't voted for a candidate, they have voted for a vessel they expect will champion their ideology. No consideration of whether he would make a good president. All of a sudden they realize that, damn, this guy has to actually be president. Maybe he should act in ways that a president should. And maybe we need to tell him what political positions he needs to hold to be a republican.

How in the world do you not think about that stuff before you nominate him?

I think you are being a bit unfair in condemning the Republican Party in that manner. Sixty percent of primary voters chose someone other than Trump. And many prominent Republicans have condemned him.

Furthermore, it was not just Republicans who looked at Trump and figured he could get his **** together after the primaries; there were others who expected the pivot to eventually come. I am not sure stupid is the correct label for not foreseeing his complete inability to act presidential.

His performance with Sean Hannity was priceless IMO, since it told you everything you need to know about Trump: he has no plan, no agenda of his own and will go with everything that seems to be popular wherever he happens to be.
That is the textbook definition of the opposite of a Leader.
