What book is everyone writing right now?

Meanwhile, as the novel nears the beta read stage, I submitted a short story to a magazine and they've accepted it for publication!

In another month I'll be able to say, I'm a published author!

It only pays a token fee, but who cares, they're actually paying me for a short story. It's official.

It's a sci fi horror story I wrote for no reason I can explain, just had an urge. It won a short story contest on another forum and someone else suggested I submit it to this magazine I'd never heard of.

It's called Stone Games and it will be in issue 47 of Sanitarium Horror Magazine.

It's a monthly publication so 47 issues says it's been around almost 4 years. Amazon sells an e-pub and print version.

I know it's a fairly minor thing but, I'm beaming!

I'm writing a book right now. Non-fiction account of my travels doing somehting with a pretty niche appeal. Can someone give me a summary of the last 32 pages?

Do all the writers here have agents? If so, how long did it take you to find them? I'm sending out my novel left right and centre, but no interest so far. :(

I do not. My first two books have been released directly through a small house publisher. I have been trying to find an agent since the first book was accepted, which was some four years ago. I've had a few bites, but no takers.

That's awesome! Congrats ♥

Yay! Got the hard copy of the magazine my story is published in. I wanted to read the other stories to make sure it wasn't a vanity press (even though they paid me) because surely every author would be good for buying a bunch of copies.

But I'm pleased to say I've read two of the stories so far, and except for a few too many adverbs in one, they are both pretty good. I'm in the company of good authors.

And it looks more like a book than a magazine. It's a 9x5 format bound like a paperback. CreateSpace does a decent job.

They do! My three-year-old told a story about taking his stuffed bear to "Crabby Pond" and I wanted to capture it. After trying a number of other places, I ended up publishing through CreateSpace, as they had the fewest restrictions and the highest quality for the price. People have actually bought the book too!

That is so cute, RobRoy.

I have more good news. Got paid and Sanitarium is going to publish another one of my short stories!

I tweaked one I wrote a while back and entered it under supernatural stories and they accepted it right away. Last time they took a couple weeks to get back to me.

This is so cool. It's a great confidence booster.

Thanks! The book turned out great, and we picked up a dozen copies to give away to friends and family.

Woot-woot! Links?

Well, just uploaded a file and an order for ten bound copies of the first 150 pages of my novel (in novella format). Should arrive late next week or early the week after. It's roughly a feature-length screenplay's worth of story. Just want to see if it "looks" good in print.

I need something physical to hold and read. I kinda miss the Old Days when the stack of typewritten pages would get noticeably thicker as you went along.

Beanbag

I just wrote an outline for a killer short story for an open call for submissions for an anthology of sci-fi stories with a broadly defined map theme. The story is about genetic mapping.

May not be the best use of time, seeing as the novel is close to being finished. But it's such a killer idea.

I'm doing a series of lunchbox sized romances. I'm hoping a few good reviews will get some of the views on Amazon to turn into purchases.

Update on my Jade & Jane Re-Vamped release. 90 days out, 1.3k eBooks sold, 3.3k royalties. Only a dozen print sales (eBooks are where the sales are for a self published author).
