The existence of God and the efficacy of prayer

And yet people have at many points in history killed each other over their disagreements concerning its interpretation, despite most definitely not being atheists and equally definitely not having learned it from atheists. Sorry, but that emperor hasn't got a stitch to wear.

Christian groups don't even entirely agree on issues such as the Trinity.

Are you Jewish? I ask because apparently only 144,000 Jewish virgin males are going to Heaven in the end.
Fixed (Rev 14:4).

How long they will remain virgins is a different question. The bible clearly said said there was no marriage in heaven (Matthew 22:30). I guess the verse about heaven being a big cottage in the sky was lost though translation error.

Science has the whole world to figure out. Theologians only have one book to explain. Besides science can and does change its mind as it sees fit. You know with humans being imperfect.

Another grievance against God for atheists to cry about?

Last time I checked, there are many religious texts are claiming to be the "right way."

Yes, all of them.

Well, some books written about Wicca basically are "this is what works for me."
Wicca can be an extremely loose belief system however.

Something I don't understand. When Spain ruled over Central / South America, they converted the natives to Catholicism but allowed they to keep certain rituals from their previous practices. However, in their treatment of Conversos, if they kept any rituals from Judaism, they would be pushed at various levels up to execution.

Dave

That must be one of the metaphorical parts. Obviously.

I'm not sure if it was a top down policy, but yes. A number of native beliefs which had parallels, some rather distant, were absorbed into Catholicism. Tonantzin, virgin goddess of the corn, was identified with the Virgin Mary. Incan beliefs made a big deal of the number three (underworld, earth, heaven; snake, puma, condor; etc. which were then linked to the Trinity. And so on. I imagine it helped spread Catholicism.

If we assume for a moment that there was a deliberate top down policy, I'd think it had something to do with wanting to absorb the Indians but wipe out the Jews.

At that point though, aren't they Catholics with a few Jewish rituals?

Where do you think all former Christians who were raised in Christian environments and became atheists learned about the Bible from?

Or do you claim that there are no such people at all because it's impossible, so the accusation of lying is not specific to Abaddon but general to most atheists in this country?

He clearly took the verse out of context as most Atheists do.

What doesn't make sense is you claiming it is clear. If it is clear why do each of the following have a different interpretation.

Minor adjustments to interpretation is to be expected. It doesn't confuse me, but it sure as hell confuses you. LOL

Clearly he does ignore it, otherwise he wouldn't be conversing with atheists.

2 Corinthians 6:14-17
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? ... Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord.

Why would you put something up to prove your point that is so clearly out of context?

This verse is about marriage.

You guys look foolish as you continue to try and prove your points with such obvious dishonest arguing. Where is Slowvehicle?

Dave

Really? you have to go there?

That doesn't make it right, besides do you want to talk about the killings from Atheists?

Want to talk about the hundreds of millions killed by Atheists like Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot? How about your leftist hero Che?

Yes, I read several interpretations, it gives a well rounded understanding. You obviously have not.

Once again, a bunch of posts has been consigned to AAH for various breaches of the Membership Agreement. Whilst I recognise that emotions can run high in some discussions, all participants MUST make much greater efforts to adhere to the MA.

This means that you must be civil and polite to all other members, no matter how much you disagree with them. You must address the arguments that are made rather than attacking the people making them. You must remain on topic rather than derailing into discussions that are not encompassed by the subject(s) of the thread.

I will reopen the thread on moderated status, which means that every post must be approved by a member of the mod team before it appears in the thread.
