You can feel the tension of the elastic ether each time you work up the stairs.......

So, elasticity of ether is resisting our every effort to move. Now, there is normally a squared relationship between resistance and speed, so does this follow through with your ether-stuff? In other words, will climbing the stairs produce resistance of x, and doubling the speed of climb produce a resistance of 4x. tripling it 9x, and so on? If so, then I'd be curious as to how anything has ever left the earth's gravity. And if not, why not?

It’s all about proportional transformation, if you walk up the stairs, you walk towards a direction with less space / ether tension, and this is why you need force to do so.
Furthermore on your way upwards your mass is gradually increasing

So, there will be an equation governing this relationship. It sounds like it could be an extremely simple one. What is it?

Fascinating. So ether is directly focused on the center of the earth?
It's good to know that your theory makes earth the center of everything again.

Or is it that Australians encounter the opposite effect?

Wrong, Bjarne. With a fantasy all about proportional transformation, if you walk up the stairs, you walk towards a direction with more space / ether tension, and this is why you need force to do so :p.
Or the gibberish of "space / ether tension" dances the fandango with the fairies and the fairies bouncing off you causes gravity :D!
Any other fantasy is just as valid as yours.

It is the level of tension of steched space that keeps you feet on the ground
