A crank uploads a video of an ignorant (and a bit paranoid) part of Judith Curry's subcommittee hearing testimony :eye-poppi!
She goes on about the 2009 "Climategate" email theft that has been shown in several enquiries to have no scientific impact. Does not like an article about herself! She lies - there is a 98% consensus by climate scientists that AGW is happening. She repeats climate skeptic myths, e.g. "its the Sun", "its natural variability", "climate models are unreliable". etc.

A new NOAA-sponsored report shows that air temperature in 2015 across the Arctic was well above average with temperature anomalies over land more than 2 degrees Fahrenheit above average, the highest since records began in 1900. Increasing air and sea surface temperatures, decreasing sea ice extent and Greenland ice sheet mass, and changing behavior of fish and walrus are among key observations released today in the Arctic Report Card 2015.

Study: Current climate models misrepresent El Niño
The finding contradicts the top nine climate models in use today, which associate exceptionally hot summers and cold winters with weak El Niños, and vice versa.

“The idea behind this link is based on very well-established physics, so it’s appealing to think that nature works this way. But our analysis shows that it’s not that simple,” said Julien Emile-Geay, lead author of a study contradicting the models and assistant professor of Earth Sciences at the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences.

His study was published on December 14 in the journal Nature Geoscience.

Emile-Geay checked the models against data collected by his coauthors on shells and fossil corals spanning the Holocene period – the last 10,000 years of Earth’s history. The period had similar geography, amounts of ice and levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, making it a good analogue for today’s climate.

I am surprised that the GISS met station data shows 2015 to be record highest year.

It was running a little cooler than the combined global land sea index which until the November data needed record cold temps for November and December to not break the record.

Well Haig - you actually published some interesting science...that is the way science works....your nonsense is not....it's simply wrong.

There is an interchange between theory and observation - ENSO is very complex and as yet completely unpredictable.
He's right it's not that simple and has no bearing on AGW beyond understanding how the energy moves between air and ocean via ENSO events.
It's inside the box....AGW overlaying natural cycles like ENSO.

In your case however...you're just wrong as it IS this simple.

1.06 C Above 1880: Climate Year 2015 Shatters All Previous Records For Hottest Ever
We knew it was going to be a record breaker. We knew that atmospheric greenhouse gasses in the range of 400 parts per million CO2 and 485 parts per million CO2e, when combined with one of the top three strongest El Ninos in the Pacific, would result in new all-time global record high temperatures. But what we didn’t know was how substantial the jump would ultimately be.

Today, the numbers were made public by NASA. And I hate to say it, but it’s a real doozy. Overall, according to NASA, Climate Year 2015 — the 12 month period from December of 2014 through November of 2015 — was 0.84 C hotter than NASA’s 20th Century Baseline. That’s 0.11 C hotter than previous hottest year 2014 and a full 0.21 C hotter than climate change deniers’ favorite cherry — 1998. In other words past record hot years are being left in the dust as the world is heating up to ever more dangerously warm global temperatures.

In any case, the current NASA Graph above is going to need some serious adjusting as the new global average for climate year 2015 is simply off the top of the chart. A new jump that gives lie to the increasingly obvious fake claim made by climate change deniers over the past two years that global warming somehow ‘paused.’

But aside from reality once again making the fossil fuel cheerleaders of the world (aka climate change deniers) look increasingly imbecilic, 2015’s new temperature increase is a visible sign of increasing climate danger. This year’s 0.84 C temperature departure above NASA’s 20th Century baseline is 1.06 C hotter than 1880s values. It’s a number just 0.44 C (or two more strong El Ninos) away from crossing the very dangerous 1.5 C threshold that nations of the world recently pledged to attempt to avoid at the Paris Climate Summit

What the GISS met station data shows is that 2015 is very highly likely to be the record highest year.
October 2015 happened to be the highest monthly temperature anomaly in the GISS record.
You noted that we would have to get "record cold temps for November and December to not break the record". That did not happen for November and is even more extremely unlikely for December: NASA: 2015 Will Be ‘A Scorcher Relative To All Other Years’ On Record.
