Hillary Clinton is Done

Speaking of backlash, how about Hillary's laughing cajoling with one of her campaign workers about his town hall remarks regarding reaching through a TV screen and strangling Carly Fiorina?

Meh. I don't see anything wrong with that. The guy obviously was speaking figuratively. What I do find scary is that laugh of hers (beginning at 1:40 of the video). I can't help but think of the Joker from Batman.

I'm glad Hillary told the man that she wouldn't mess with him.
Women need to know their place.;)

No one here likes the ad; it probably cost the Republicans five percent of their vote. And a lot of people don't like living here, either; the property taxes in Bridgeport, where I live, are the highest in the entire country. There are positives, to be sure, but it's getting very difficult for the middle class here and a lot of them are voting with their feet.

As long as we're just making up numbers now I bet it cost them 90% of their vote!!!!

I think anybody who tries to use the Sandy Hook incident for any political purpose of any sort is going to be vilified in Connecticut. The small state takes it as a very personal matter and doesn't enjoy outsiders making hay of it.

Well, it's the gun control people who are trying to make hay out of the Sandy Hook massacre. The event surely doesn't help the cause of gun rights.

And of course these tragic events need to be put in perspective. I used this tool to find the number of drowning deaths in the US per year for kids aged 5 and 6. In 2013, there were 71. There are tragedies all around us, whether we hear about them or not. And it should never be considered a taboo to discuss a tragedy, let alone for the silly reason that it was publicized more than other tragedies.

Somehow, your "meh" doesn't surprise me, it is an expected type of reaction from the persona you seem to carefully craft and generally consistently project in this forum.

And that is the part that HRC supporters should worry about. When her and her supporters act as bad (or worse than) the people they are labeling as sexist. BTW, the man isn't just an anonymous crowd moron, he is a minion:
...The man, who NPR identified as Fred Walsh, explained after Fiorina's layoffs at the company, "every time I see her on TV, I want to reach through and strangle her."

The room erupted in laughter -- and so did Clinton.

"I know that doesn't sound very nice," added Walsh, who told NPR that he volunteers for the Clinton campaign...

Someone said something hyperbolic and Clinton laughed!? I mean really, someone please warn Fiorina, call the press, alert Homeland Security!!

Sarcasm aside, you seem to have crossed boldly into the realm of Clinton Derangement Syndrome.

If any Republican candidate had laughed along after that strangle joke, I wonder what the reaction would have been . . .

"This just in... The war on women rears its ugly face on the campaign trail and the candidate was silent...." :|

Speaking for myself, my reaction was the same as when Republican candidates found themselves in a similar situation. I gave it the attention it deserved. None.

Much straw-grasping ado about nothing.

Man in audience re Fiorina, annoyed about her responsibility for layoffs at HP: "Every time I see her I want to reach through the screen and strangle her"

Everyone laughs including Clinton.

Clinton: "I wouldn't want to mess with you."

That's like saying you want to throw a brick at the TV. It's a common metaphor and not an actual direct threat. And Clinton's answer wasn't saying anything like she'd like to strangle Fiorina also.

Law of statistics says somebody will have a schtick with it because of violence against women, granted a joke is different from being serious there are people that get offended by everything even should you yourself not find it particularly offensive

Hey, if your primary reason for supporting Clinton is that she's a woman and its "her turn, ...for all women!" Then the fact that the supporters she chums around with display the very types of thoughtless sexist rhetoric that she tries to accuse her political opponents of, speaks volumes about how much she really cares about sexism and gender discrimination. Namely she seems to hold it as a weapon she feels immune to, but will casually use against others regardless of the veracity of sexist intent or implication.

Hey, if your primary reason for supporting Clinton is that she's a woman...
I stopped reading there as the straw started poking me in the eye.

Please, please, consider applying the same high level of logic and reason to the candidates as you do to climate change.

As a staunch Hillary Hater, I see no problem whatsoever with her reaction in the video.

We have members here in this thread who seem to fit this profile, and it does not seem to be an outlier position.

But, I am open to being persuaded that this is a fringe position and that my anecdotal experience is not representative of Clinton or her broader support. What policy positions, leadership/life experience, and personal characteristics does Hillary Clinton hold which makes her the stand out best representative to be the Democratic party representative in 2016?

Please refrain from personalising your posts. If you are talking about Ms Clinton, you are on topic. If you are talking about other posters here, you are off topic and also breaching rule 12. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Hillary Clinton is on wrong side of everything: Stop telling me I have to vote for her because of the Supreme Court
These justices aren't going anywhere. Hillary's been slow to evolve on everything that matters, and is not for me

...Also, one great thing about a Sanders presidency is that Americans will be able to trust a person who never had to evolve towards progressive stances on war, foreign policy, Wall Street, and environmental issues like Keystone XL. While critics haven’t let me evolve from one article on Rand Paul (written from a purely progressive outlook on ending perpetual war, please read the actual article), supporters of the former Secretary of State are very comfortable with her evolution on a number of topics. Naturally, Clinton supporters aren’t concerned with perpetual wars...

...When a conservative historian known for neoconservative views says Clinton’s foreign policy is “something that might have been called neocon,” it’s safe to say her foreign policy will be hawkish. In addition, another New York Times article states that neocons are “aligning themselves with Hillary Rodham Clinton and her nascent presidential campaign, in a bid to return to the driver’s seat of American foreign policy.”...

...In addition to being a Republican pertaining to war and foreign policy, conservative stances have plagued Clinton throughout the years. With Clinton, poor judgment is referred to as a regrettable mistake. Owning a personal server was a “mistake,” voting for the Iraq War was a “mistake,” she “wasn’t raised” to envision gay marriage, and now opposes the TPP based upon “What I know about it, as of today.”...

Again, I'm not posting quips from some rightwing rag spewing their sewage through a wood chipper to see what "sticks." I've been quoting Time, Salon, HuffPost, ModerateView, and many well established, moderate and left-looking media sources.

As Secretary of State, she proved that she could manage complex international relationships without alienating allies or antagonizing enemies.

As Senator from New York, she showed that she understood and was able to work with Republicans with whom she disagreed to create realistic compromises.

As First Lady, she showed that she had the manners and grace to engage the public while staying above the tabloid rumor-mongering - despite a very public airing of a rift in her marriage.

As one of Barack Obama's highest ranking aides, she showed that she understood and largely agreed with Obama's policy goals. As she is the only official of the Obama administration running for President, she is best able to continue his legacy.

As a graduate of Yale Law School, she has proven to have the intelligence and education to grasp complex subjects.

As an individual involved in politics since the Goldwater campaign, she has experienced every possible vicissitude of political life at every level from unpaid volunteer to candidate.

I really can't think of a Democrat in the country who is better suited for the job except for two, and both of them are constitutionally disqualified.
