'The Third Intifada has already begun'

Why is that? No time to do so in nearly 20 years, or they never actually amended it? How can you say they did so when no evidence exists that they did?

Wildcat I do understand that your belief is that if it was not redrafted it was not amended. There is probably little point in your repetition.

Got it, too busy knifing Israeli Jews.

I suppose one must have one's priorities.

My view is that it was probably shelved by factions that wanted nothing to do with anything that could be seen as compromise.

OK, then where's the full current text of the amended charter?

Our constitution has not been redrafted, it has been amended. But you can find the text of the amended constitution quite easily.

The text of the amendment to the plo charter is contained in a letter that has been linked to here many many times.

Funny how the US constitution not being redrafted is not a problem yet it causes some people great concern when it's the plo charter.

Maybe it's time for this particular charter diversion to fade away and we get back on topic?

Has the draft been ratified and promulgated as the new charter?

if you feel you have a strong case then maybe you should tell the Israeli government, the Us government and the PLO. all of them were of the opinion that it was amended.

if the people on the "Not amended" ticket want their cause to gather momentum and gain credibility they really need to work on getting at least one government from either side that was actually there at the time to agree with you

First off, I've never seen that, so fat lot of good your reference does to me. Second, why should I believe that this letter represents the actual amended charter and not simply a plan to amend the charter?

Because, as I said, you can easily find official copies of the amended constitution, and even extensive details of all the legal proceedings take to amend the constitution.

Can you do so for the PLO charter? Can you find an official link showing the full charter as amended? It's looking more and more like you can't.

Ummm... I've taken the liberty of openign a new thread on the issue of the Charter here .

Perhaps we could get back to discussing the OP, which was....

Hell, what WAS the OP ?

Oh.. yes... CE cited a quote by Mustafa Barghouti about insurrection.

what.. precisely.. IS a "Barghouti", and must I have one as well ?

(note: for those unfamiliar with the "Mustafa = must have a " meme, here is a link. )

Ok sorry but I have run out of patience.

Earlier in this thread I posted a link from your own Government, you quoted this post and commented on it. Go back and familiarize yourself with the topic.

and you think its looking "more and more" like I can't show you a redrafted charter. I have stated that one does not exist many times I'm not at all sure why that is too much for you to notice.

One more time for luck.

The PLO charter consists of the original charter and amendments.....it has not been redrafted just like the US constitution has not been redrafted.

What's the ratification process for proposed amendments to the PLO charter?

I mean, I can tell you what the ratification process is for proposed amendments to the US constitution. And I can even provide solid citations for what amendments have been ratified and are now part of the US Constitution.

Can you do the same for the PLO charter?

What, do you have ADHD?

But not from the PLO. Why is that?

That's ironic, considering the fact that you failed to notice I was asking for the amended charter, not the redrafted charter, and that I accepted the distinction from the start.

The PLO charter consists of the original charter and amendments

And where is the official documentation from the PLO that these amendments were actually enacted? I mean, really, all it should have taken is a single link, and all this back and forth could have been avoided.

Unless, of course, no such link exists. Hmmmm.....

Seeing as you are never going to accept that the damn thing was amended do you think there is any real point in continuing on with this current rerun of the charter diversion?

It does seem as though the charter was never actually amended, although there appeared to be a will from Yasser Arafat to amend it in accordance with the Oslo agreements.

Granted, my knowledge of this stretches as far as I can read on Wikipedia and the sourced articles, but it would seem that both the Israeli and the official Palestinian view is that the charter was never amended.

I really don't see how this could become a controversial subject.

from your link...

Like President Clinton, Israel and the Likud party now formally agreed that the objectionable clauses of the charter had been abrogated, in official statements and statements by Prime Minister Netanyahu, Foreign Minister Sharon, Defense Minister Mordechai and Trade and Industry Minister Sharansky.[13][14][15][16] With official Israeli objections to the Charter disappearing henceforward from lists of Palestinian violations of agreements,[17] the international legal controversy ended.

Its a matter of opinion in the end. I doubt if I am going to convince anyone who is committed to the "not amended" case.
