No I'm not denying that he shot a black bear on his porch, I'm skeptical of the dramatic way he portrayed the event.

People naturally add extra drama and embellish details to any event they're talking about, be it true or not. I just got home from work, walked home, it was blustery and quite wet, the wind was roaring like a banshee, etc etc. See? I, too, can add drama to a real-life event that doesn't exactly take a leap of faith to believe.

I'm not sure why this is a problem all of a sudden. Whether he's telling the truth or not, I'm not really arsed. I'd be arsed if he told me he'd shot a Yeti, y'know?

And I'd be significantly less arsed if he then posted a photo of a yeti hide.

Most definitely, that'd be bloody marvellous. What I am arsed about is how crap this forum must be if you can't have a simple picture of Spider-Man as your avatar telling his foe that he'll feckin' web them. What a load of bollocks this nonsense is. Lying and trolling = good. Swear words = bad.

What's really funny is the fact that just the other week, everyone was getting lambasted for not giving Footers, who are clearly outright liars, the benefit of the doubt about their sightings and experiences. Now everyone is getting lambasted for giving the benefit of the doubt to a guy who hasn't done much to warrant not having it. Funny stuff.

The whole reason he shoehorned in this overly dramatic story about how awesome he is, was to chastise Jodie for being overly dramatic. That was my problem (not the chastising Jodie part, just the pot calling the kettle names part).

Anywho, unless ABP wants to comment, I'm done with the subject.

Does anyone know some problems one might have seeing cryptids?

Well, speaking as someone who Jodie constantly accused of not giving people the benefit of the doubt, despite her not being able to provide any evidence for it, and seeing as she claims to see all kinds of wild ghosts, dead presidents, misplaced animals and flying energy balls, I'd say that her grievance with ABP is sod-all to do with me and mainly to do with an annoyance she has for not being believed in her own stories.

I know the main problem that people have with seeing cryptids: they're generally not there.

So, there's a different standard for different people? Who sets the standard?

Mate, pull the other one... It's got bloody bells on it.

I set the standard about whom I choose to believe, and I'd believe ABP's bear story over your clearly fabricated "wolf expert" yarn that you spun and I caught you out on. Lest we forget the Good n Plenty's... Do you really have to go there?

"50,000 to 1 odds!" ;)

It has nothing to do with people, but with the claim. An out of place animal vs a native animal. A creature not shown to exist vs . . .

For example, Jodie might have seen a cougar in SC, as there are plausible scenarios available. I see nothing plausible in bigfoot claims other than the usual suspects of mis id, delusion, or lying.

I think you set the standard, when you said Bigfoot lobbed a Good N Plenty (which someone in your party had been eating earlier in the day) 20 feet and plopped it on your friends lap, and you all proceeded to speculate as to the origin, and went to bed.

Goooooooold Standard right there.

Awesome. Glad I could be of assistance.

Yes, Jodie's cougar sighting is orders of magnitude less ridiculous.

Bears exist. Alaska exists. People who live and work in bear country in Alaska exist. There exist people who make their living by cutting trees, guiding tourists to wilderness areas, and coordinating hunts for large mammals, including bears. These people understand that when a bear decides that what it wants is in your house then it's time to kill that bear, and they have both the firepower and the gumption to do so.

I just don't see that ABP has claimed anything that would be implausible for any of the thousands of guys living in the North Woods of Alaska and across boreal Canada. Heck, there are probably several hundred of 'em who also have hot Asian wives.

Of course he could be an expert yarn-spinner and all-around bovine excrement artiste. Maybe he lives in his mom's basement in Peoria. He's posted a lot of photos, however, that seem congruent with the lifestyle he claims to enjoy. Yes, he could be a master manipulator who deftly crafts stories to weave through the photos he's found, but there comes a point at which it's a lot more parsimonious to say "Cool, that snow machine looks like it really is a workhorse" or "Hmm, that hot Asian woman in the woods might actually be his wife."

No hot Asian wife - but I shot a bear off my front porch that was trying to force the door. It wasn't late at night - nor was I sleeping. I was actually talking to my wife on the phone and literally told her I had to hang up because a bear was trying to break in.
This not a rare occurrence in areas that have lots of bears (the breaking in part).
Then - I did what most people that I know do in ranching areas - I dug a hole with the backhoe and buried the stupid critter without telling anybody.
I have no photos so you can either believe my story or not.

What you should believe is that Jodie has shown a pattern of stalking and trolling certain members on this forum and I cannot for the life of me understand why such a disruptive person with such little to add to any conversation is allowed to still be a member here.

As For Nakani - get a grip and understand that the life of someone living in bear territory is full of such incidents. I would be much more surprised if ABP stated he had no problem with bears. If he further stated: "If you leave them alone they will leave you alone" - then I would know he was very inexperienced around bears and most likely lying about his location and life.

Rockinkt,

I would've been surprised if you read all my posts and made an informed comment.

We've all seen it before, this type of behavior fits a pattern, it's boring(after a while), off topic and a waste everyone's time...it would be great to see something on topic that didn't appear to be a veiled insult for a change....you got anything along those lines Nakani?

Having read your uninformed blather regarding legends about giant beavers - and then proving them to be just baseless modern lies - I had my reservations about reading your posts in this thread.
However, I did read them and found them to be nothing but basic trolling.

Rockinkt,

That is not how I remember our previous discussion but if it makes you leave me alone, then, yes you visiting the NWT once made you an expert on legends and you proved without a doubt that the Dene people couldn't have passed stories down through the generations.

Cervelo? Is that you? You ok?

To be honest I don't really understand what there is to discuss.

like Gilbert Syndrome said, the problem with seeing cryptids is that they don't exist. [\Thread]
