100% of all the thousands of Elvis witnesses since August 16, 1977 were/are mistaken or lying.

Ditto mermaids, dragons, etc.

Ah yes the "They can't all be wrong can they?" argument.

*Clears my throat* Yes. Yes they can.

Well, we all know that people make that sort of mistake all the time.

We have seen many examples.

Why are you incapable of making this mistake?

Because a housecat can't tackle the hind end of a deer and bring it down.

This is why you aren't going to confuse a cougar with a bobcat when you see it 15 feet below where you are sitting in daylight. They don't look anything alike, see? By some of your suggestions I'm assuming some of you didn't know that.

https://www.mymanatee.org/home/government/departments/community-services/kids-pages/plants-and-animals/bobcat.html

A red fox doesn't look anything like a fisher cat; an African lion doesn't look anything like an alley cat. Folks know this, yet . . .

I might forget where I put my lighter or my car keys, or what some poster said 3 years ago, but I'm not going to mistake a housecat for a cougar. No, perception doesn't work the way that you would like for it too just so you can justify indirectly insinuating that someone is an idiot.
Why would you be insulted when it's pointed out that you are subject to the same cognitive miscues as all human beings. It's like getting pissed when informed you're mortal; you might not like it, but there it is.

Would you guys quit insisting that I didn't see what I said I saw? None of you were there and there were 3 other witnesses. To say I confused a house cat with a cougar is ridiculous at the distance it was from all of us. A house cat can't bring down a deer. Bob cats are gray with stripes or spots and are much smaller. It was a frikking cougar.

Not only that but I've supplied links to documentation that states it's possible for cougars to roam as far as 1500 miles away from their native habitat and evidence that an Eastern Cougar was shot recently right outside the Atlanta Metro area.

Using a tact that Shrike uses, to continue to say that it's not possible for a cougar to be present in SC is irrational. That, or you guys are trolling me which seems much more likely. I can't believe all of you would be that stupid.

Your cougar tackled the hind end of the deer? Stupidest cougar ever! Sounds more like a made up story coming from ignorance but with a desire to have a cougar tale.

I don't think you are mistaken about what you saw. I don't think you saw anything.

Florida panthers are not Eastern Cougars. Wrong subspecies. You didn't read our Eastern Cougar thread, did you?

Lying; yes.

Lying 100% of the time when something doesn't fit the perceived norm; convenient and widely overused.

Yet another drive-by slice of intelligence from the 50,000 to 1 Gamblin' Man. I'm already spending that whopping £30 you owe me, mate. I've got my eye on a rather nice Good 'n' Plenty t-shirt, I figure I'll use the change to buy some Good 'n' Plenty from the US food store in town. It shall be both good and plentiful!

Yes Parcher, it lept, but caught the hind end of the deer, they rolled, the cougar lost it's grip, and the chase continued.

It sounds to me like you would like for this to be a made up tale but it's not working out that way for you. Now you resort to calling me a liar once again.

So basically Jodie we can never tell you that you are wrong, even when you are repentantly saying things which are objectively false and keep adding details after the fact and changing your story because that's equivalent to us calling you a stupid lair.

You have talked yourself into a deluded state of mind.

A cat was shot in Georgia. It's DNA was typed and it was found to be from the Florida Panther colony and the guy got 2 years probation for it.

What happens when a real cougar shows its face in Georgia? It gets shot and the body provides confirmatory evidence.

What happens when a real cougar shows its face in Connecticut? It becomes roadkill and the body provided confirmatory evidence. It wasn't "believed" to have walked from South Dakota - it was proven in multiple ways. It left its DNA in various places along the journey and was even photographed on trail cams. Therefore we even know the route it took. The full story is in the Eastern Cougar thread which you did not read.

These two confirmed accounts are actually terrible news for those who claim cougars are living in the East. They show that when real cougars are there they get confirmed in proper ways that are not anecdotal. They do not support the story of cougars living in the East - instead they do the opposite.

Ok, so there is the evidence that cougars can range long distances from their home habitat.

I don't know that the cougar I saw was a permanent resident. I've said that numerous times so what is your point? If I say I saw a cougar then there is documented proof that it is possible for them to be in the southeast, South Carolina specifically.
