Continuation Part 18: Amanda Knox/Raffaele Sollecito

Oh dear

"Stephanie said the family had ‘no reason or need’ to meet Knox and warned that the pair should not visit Meredith’s tomb.

She said: "I have said that given the circumstances those two should not visit Meredith’s tomb.

"For us it is a place to meet and remember the happy moments that we spent with her. To go against our personal wishes would be disrespectful and unacceptable. Meredith should have at least the right to rest in peace finally."

She said the family found it ‘incredibly difficult’ to understand how the Italian justice system had failed to give them answers. "After eight years we are still not close to finding out the truth about what went on that night."
She said there were still doubts over what happened that night, as the judges said that Knox and Sollecito were present at the house but not at the scene of the crime.

"How can we say that I am five metres from the murder but I don’t even know what happened and I couldn’t at least intervene?"

A third man Rudy Guede is serving a 16-year-sentence for the murder."

I read the original article in Italian, and think I posted the google translate up thread.

I think the hilite and bold'd quote is from Maresca in the original Italian article, not Stephanie. And that the Mirror "journalist" (HANNAH ROBERTS) just embellished/fabricated the quote for theatrical value.

What's wrong with the UK tabloids? Normal people don't behave like this.

My point was that BW referred to Mach's posts on CD's blog and BW didn't start on the case until after Hellmann. I've looked for those comments starting years ago but couldn't find them and if BW knew of Mach's posts there, I thought they must be archived as I know he didn't read them at the time.

I posted with you on Frank's. I was "Anonymous" ;)

The strange thing about the PMF split into .ORG and .NET in March 2011 is that both contain the pre-split postings as if each is the genuine article.

Go to one or the other looking for references to Yummi prior to his own postings on the then unified-PMF. There was plenty of reference to comments on Dempsey's blog..... including his; much the same way other service's postings are referred to here.

What was the point of this, again?

Thanks. I thought the reference to Meredith's "tomb" was a bit odd too coming from an English person. The English tabloids are riddled with error, sadly.

Maybe, I have the wrong address. What do you have?

Amanda Knox -- the University of Washington student implicated in a shocking slaying in Perugia ... issued June 30 after Seattle police were called to a party at her home at 5237 12th Ave. N.E. She wound up paying a $269 fine.

Amanda Knox's espressions expressed disgust, not horror. And she herself also chose the word "disgusting".

Don't forget, btw, that Knox was not supposed to know any detail about Meredith's death at the time when she told those details for the first time, at the police stateion.

This is like groundhog's day. The "details" Amanda knew have all been discussed ad nauseam in these threads. Please let's not start up all over again.

Machiavelli, why does this Vixen chick seem to know more about Bongiorno's, Bruno's and Marasca's special relationships than you? If what she writes is at all valid, she seems to know quite a bit more than you. I was always under the impression you had some inside knowledge of how things happened.

Here's the first Yummi reference on PMF by Peggy - ... comments to Frank's latest blog entry. IW has a new blog entry up - long and fairly predictable - but the comments provided by an Italian named Yummi are quite interesting . Unbelievably, people on the Seattle PI blog are still trying to argue that a sole intruder could have entered through ...

You contended it was his posts on CD's that first got their attention. I forget why that was important for you to contend.

ETA - BW "As for Machiavelli, because of his characteristic comments (!) On Dempsey's blog, he was invited as an English-speaking but Italian voice to the now closed PMF.ORG. And the rest is history!"

Me too. AFAIR that was, indeed, Peggy's first reference to Yummi, though....

Ultimately, Mr Kercher and his brood were dim witted boobies in this matter. They allowed themselves to be imprinted by Mignini's craziness, seduced by the guilter nutters and found the science going right over their heads.

In his book, what was supposed to be a tribute to his daughter lasted less than 80 pages, whilst in the rest he demonstrated how not very bright he is.

I feel sorry for him. His stupidity prolonged the case. It's not really his fault. He actually thought that TJMK was run by independent lawyers instead of by an elderly pervert.

That pretty much sums it up.

Sorry, I missed your ETA.....

There was either a post by Peggy later on which implied this or one of Mach's own introductory posts on either JREF or IIP where he lays it out. Truly, dude, you are putting me through the memory-drill for some reason....

.... is this so that you can again end up claiming early knowledge superior to FOA knowledge, or that I said something nice about Dempsey? It's baffling why you do this, but knock yourself out!

Thanks. For some reason I had the party at 4737 12th NE. But I still wouldn't say 52nd is a quiet residential neighborhood. Yes, those homes would be described as single family residences but hardly any of them actually are. Most are packed with students taking up every available space.

Ned? Ned Ryerson? Bing!

North there are more apartments now but it is not near the Frats and Sororities and is not a rowdy area. Go check it out.

You could read the comments on Candace's blog for a few years, but eventually the P-I deleted all of them. Yummi was on there as early as 2008, pontificating on the Italian legal system, before he could speak English half as well as he now speaks it (kudos to him on that).

Candace always gave him way too much leeway, I thought. She sincerely believed his agenda was to explain Italian legal culture and procedure objectively, but his attitude was already showing -- he would have a major cow every other day about how stupid people were because they couldn't understand what he meant, just like he does now. Candace was very forgiving (or naive).

This then explains.......

She doesn't know more than Mach -- she is just parroting him -- but Mach's current position seems to be, "I've said too much already" (sound of knife cutting throat), so that leaves us with only Vixen's feeble, veiled innuendo.

Apparently, the Mafia wielded a heavy hand in this case, and since Mach heroically and radically stands against the Mafia (as if no one else does), he feels justified in hating Amanda, Raffaele and everyone having anything to do with them. Bongiorno et al got Raff off eight years later because of their super-powerful Mafia connections. No palm-greasing necessary within the swiftly moving wheels of Italian justice.

I'm still trying to figure out how Amanda murdering Meredith figures into the plot. Anybody have any ideas?

I think Machiavelli is preparing us for the proof that Knox had something to do with the double body-swap in the Narducci affair. That's just a guess, though. That girl is sinister enough to pull it off!

Seriously, though, I was more than willing to give him the benefit of the doubt in his various claims about being shot, versus being shot **at** in 2001. He's done something that many in my own bilingual country cannot do, master a second language.... and as you say, kudos to him. It is hard to be always precise in a second language.

Yet, his posts are also littered with Knox's own language misunderstandings which for him "prove" she's a liar.... so I just was not in the mood to grant him what he'd withheld so many times from someone else.

Was it him who tried to reconstruct the meaning of "See you later", to mean that she was intending to meet **Rudy** in the plaza, and sent it to Lumumba by mistake? Or that she'd actually sent (as per AngloLawyer's post upthread) a message to **Lumumba** which actually said, "I will see you later", making it suspicious - except that Lumumba never had anything to do with this so why send it?

Or was that Vixen?

One of the myriad inconsistencies is that now Mach and Vixen are all about how Raff's family is connected because they had so many well known Mafia insiders getting Raff off the hook. Before, though, Mach said he could tell Amanda was connected to the Mafia because of her comment about Raff having fish blood on his hands -- which I think he said was a veiled threat toward Raff if he ratted Amanda out.

So who was connected? Amanda or Raff? Amanda must have committed the murder for the Mafia, right? If she is a "nothing," then she obviously didn't do it for personal reasons. She was just a gofer for the mob.

WHAT did Meredith know? WHY did they need to shut her up?
