Merged US Soldiers Stop Terrorist Attack In Belgium /Bad guy with guns stopped by good guys

I was unfortunate enough to be on the train yesterday in the early evening on my way to Paris but did not see the incident but heard the shots. Still pretty shaken but grateful to the American soldiers.

You had a close call. Tell us more if and when you feel up to it.

Just another example of "Violent Americans" saving some pasty white assed
Frenchmen.

For those not keeping up, the three Americans were traveling together: the Airman, a National Gaurdsman, and a college student.

NPR has the most recent update.

Here we have a situation in which the French, and Belgian and Dutch (the train was travelling through three countries) people owe a debt of gratitude to courageous and alert Americans, and seem to be displaying their thanks as best they can.

And your drivel about "some pasty white assed Frenchmen" is your contribution to this?

What have Frenchmen ever done for the United States, eh?

You seized on what you wanted to, and let slide the point that the Violent Culture of Americans has a plus side.

40 sheeple, plus 4 MEN on that car.

I'm on my way to France. I will report back as to whether French women are sufficiently grateful.

I'm surprised no one has caught on to the most interesting part of the story -- they heard the attacker loading his gun, and knew what it was.

Good ears. Good reaction(s). I'd buy them all a pint. Don't care about nationality. This is one of those times I feel good about being a part of the human race, and the outcome was pleasant.

Unfortunately, the previous time I felt hope for humanity was when I read about the antiquities director standing up to ISIS. Noble man, tragic outcome. I'd be proud to buy him a turkish coffee if I could.

Beanbag

Yeah, but guns make it easier to kill a lot of people in a short time. That's why you don't hear much about someone going on a killing rampage with a garrotte.

(You do occasionally hear about someone going on a killing rampage with a knife. Mostly in China, I think.)

I was referring to what the good guy could use that was not a gun to stop the bad guy, not what the bad guy could use.

Islam and immigration continue to culturally enrich France.

It's time for Marine Le Pen. It's long past time.

It was not merely a question of "violent vulture". No. These were not random gunslingers, but trained professionals using their skills. All cultures are "violent" in that they have such people. It was fortunate that these particular ones were on the spot at the time.

As to the insulting expression "sheeple" - are all passengers on international trains in Europe to carry automatic weapons? Military personnel would have been trained in these skills in any country; so it was not down to any particular traditions of "violence", but to the resolve and competence of trained and experienced men.
