New Disclosures on Benghazi - Part II

Darrell Issa Tried To Crash A Benghazi Committee Deposition. It Did Not Go Well.
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) tried to crash a deposition by former Clinton adviser Sidney Blumenthal to the Select Committee on Benghazi on Tuesday, The Hill reported, and it apparently did not go well.

Issa, who stepped down as chair of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform at the beginning of this year, only made it into the deposition for about a minute before he was escorted out by Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), the chair of the committee, according to The Hill. The committee is investigating memos Blumenthal sent to Clinton about security in Libya when she was Secretary of State. ...

Obsessed?

Let's see if I have that link right:

Republican smear committee asks state department for whatever they hope will get them a Clinton Gotcha.

State Department turns over related documents, refusing to comply with fishing expedition.
State Department officials said that they had complied only with requests and subpoenas related directly to the attacks because the committee’s demands were too broad. The department has “provided the committee with a subset of documents that matched its request and will continue to work with them going forward,” said a spokesman, Alec Gerlach. ...
The State Department in February provided the committee with about 900 pages of Mrs. Clinton’s emails that the department said were handed over in response to the panel’s requests, which included a subpoena that the committee had sent to Mrs. Clinton.
Republican panel claims the State Department is using excuses and holding back whatever they continue to hope they can use against Hillary in 2016.

In response to a subpoena from the committee, Mr. Blumenthal on Friday handed over dozens of pages of emails between him and Mrs. Clinton. The emails are similar to others between Mr. Blumenthal and Mrs. Clinton that were provided to the committee by the State Department in February.
Maybe there aren't any secret emails related to Benghazi.

Maybe there are in the 30,000 deleted emails, but I can't imagine any of those guys involved in the investigation would let their political opponents rummage around in all their private communiques either.

You don't have it right at all.

Cut down on the poisoning the well, and maybe you will see that.

From my linked article:

“My testimony has shed no light on the events at Benghazi nor could it because I have no firsthand knowledge of what happened there,” he [Blumenthal] told reporters.

Blumenthal said that many of the questions had to do with politics, in some cases dating back as far as the 2008 Democratic presidential primary.

“I am [a] longtime friend of Hillary Clinton. It seems obvious that my appearance before this committee was for one reason, and one reason only, and that reason is politics,” he said.

The Republicans aren't even trying to hide it anymore.

And there's this:

Gowdy said he was “open-minded” about releasing the emails immediately but resisted tying that decision to the transcript, noting the select committee had not done so in previous depositions.

Why not release the transcript? I'm sure that the reason is that the transcript would make it painfully obvious that this committee is simply fishing for something, anything, to use against Hillary Clinton. Avid readers surely realize this, as well.

Wait, you are taking the word of Sid Blumenthal, longtime Clinton family hatchet man, an employee of the Clinton Family foundation, employee of media matters for America AND consultant for the Hillary Clinton campaign for it?

Ok.

Blumenthal helped cement to Clinton the debunked talking point that the 2012 Benghazi terrorist attack was caused by spontaneous reaction to an obscure YouTube video called “Innocence of Muslims.” The White House adopted the line for Sunday talk show appearances. The false talking point added a major stain to President Obama’s legacy.

When Clinton became Secretary of State, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs and senior adviser David Axelrod (both veterans of the Obama campaign) threatened to quit their jobs if Clinton officially hired Blumenthal at the State Department. Then-White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel told Clinton that she could not hire Blumenthal.

If Sid Blumenthal tells you it is raining, he is probably just trying to sell you an umbrella directly sourced from his client in Libya and funded by State Department dollars.

The guy is a scum bag, and he lied... again.

Christ, i cannot believe that Clinton was running a back door intelligence operation based on her personal relationship with a scumbag like Blumenthal.

She did nothing to vet the information and obvious disinformation, she didn't give it to the CIA, for example.

When Hillary claims she relied on the best intelligence possible when she spun her spontaneous demonstration fable, you know she is lying.

Hmmm... the Daily Caller. Now there's a fair and balanced source. *snerk*

Now, about that transcript. Why can't we see it? Why won't Trey let us see for ourselves what questions were asked? Avid readers want to know!

Ad hominem, really?

Absolutely, release the transcript, it is another side show and distraction faked up by the Hillary apologists on the Committee. RELEASE THE TRANSCRIPT.

Now, what we know is that Sid was just passing on garbage intelligence that was neither vetted nor accurate, and playing on his personal relationship with Hillary to do it, and did so while he was on the payroll of the Clinton Family Foundation. Rather than come clean, Hillary's allies put him on media matters and he is a consultant to the Campaign.

Jesus, that Campaign is a nest of vipers.

I don't believe it either, because that's not what was happening, except in Trey Gowdy's fevered imagination.

We have the emails Blumenthal was sending her, jhunter, we have Hillary passing them on to her staff.

here are the emails, jhunter:

Actual, not imaginary emails

By the numbers:

24 – Number Of Emails From Sidney Blumenthal To Secretary Clinton

29 – Number Of Times Clinton Forwarded Blumenthal’s Emails To A State Department Staffer:

“Get This Around”
“Please Print”
“FYI”
“Please Circulate”
“Very Insightful”/ “Very Interesting”

7 – Number Of Times State Department Staff Doubted Sidney Blumenthal

2 – Number Of Emails That Were “Sensitive, But Unclassified”

1 – Number Of Emails In Which Clinton Suggested “Should Consider Passing To Israelis”

Jesus, Hillary....

Avid readers will remember that the Benghazi attack didn't happen until 2012. So how could Blumenthal's activities during the 2008 presidential primaries possibly be relevant?

Another cast goes astray for Trey, but don't worry... he'll keep on fishing...

again, you are taking Sid's word for it?

Anyway, here is how:

Sid was Hillary's hatchet man on the Clinton Campaign.
He pissed off Obama and his advisers.
In 2008, Clinton wanted to add Blumenthal to her staff at SoS
Obama had Rahm Emanuel say **** NO.
Hillary and Bill put Blumenthal on the payroll of the Clinton Family Foundation.
Blumenthal then commences to send Hillary garbage intelligence.

It is called "foundation" it is a legal thing.

You look at those emails I linked yet? Not so imaginary are they.

We have the emails Blumenthal was sending her, jhunter, we have Hillary passing them on to her staff.

And this means what, exactly? What evidence do you have that this intelligence shaped policy? What evidence do you have that any action whatsoever was taken based on this information? How many other advisers did Clinton get information from? How many times did she forward information from other advisors to her staff? What makes you think that Blumenthal's information was accorded any greater value than any other information Clinton was receiving? Avid readers want to know!

And could you nudge Trey on that transcript?

Do you think that Clinton was operating in a vacuum? Do you think that she wouldn't know that Blumenthal's intelligence was garbage if, indeed, it was?

And remind me again, what does the Clinton Family Foundation have to do with Benghazi?

I guess that means they were not imaginary! Progress! now read Hillary's emails passing them on to her staff...

Now this is where we reach the JAQ'ing off stage? I'm an avid reader, and I hope that Hillary answers all your questions when she is called to testify.

Now we just have to get around that pesky problem of Hillary and State withholding documents, huh?
