It is a specific gaming tactic, under the shaming strategy: Ridicule.
There are two 'footers doing it right now on two different threads:
nightwalker with his cartoons and
Chris right here.
It works better in person because you deploy sneering derision with the voice while rolling your eyes. Try it out:
It isn't at all about bigfoot belief. It is about practicing the game. The game has a set of strategies that requires antisocial conduct with non-players.
There is some fascinating research on this strategy. The Unabomber, Ted Kaczinski, was subjected to it while at Harvard, and is pointed to as an important factor in his belief about the evil of science:

When science was studying the affects of antisocial strategies on people, one of the results was a mad bomber.
Similar studies demonstrated how fear of shaming can make people say that lines of two very different sizes are the same - the
Asch Conformity Experiments.
The application of the strategies may appear inept, but it must be understood that University of Bigfoot is following a solid science with a whole array of strategies and specific tactics. It just isn't the science skeptics thought for so long. They are not merely naive game-players. The game utilizes well-known manipulative techniques.
My principle objection to them is their antisocial nature.
Bigfoot school produces nasty people.
