Continuation Part 14: Amanda Knox/Raffaele Sollecito

I declare my respect and friendship towards Machiavelli. Sincere and courageous but wrong. As for the rest of the guilters, nothing but contempt. Setting up hate sites, portraying themselves as concerned for the victim when in truth using this case as an outlet for their spite and wilfully blind to the facts in their hermetically sealed world. Let them choke on this. They are irrelevant anyway. I hope Italy goes after the bastards who stitched this abomination of justice together.

I partly agree, but I cannot fully agree. I think Machiavelli allowed himself to become consumed with (shall we say) "negativity" towards Knox in particular, and Sollecito too. I think that some of the things he wrote were inappropriate and distasteful - as well as wrong. And I think he became blinded by conformation bias, so I cannot altogether respect his sincerity or intellect - but I do commend him for coming to this forum to debate. Again, I hope he will find time to reflect on what's happened here.

I broadly agree - but for me, the problem is this: firstly, in my opinion, no reasonable, impartial person who ever looked at the evidence (and the quality of that evidence) and the non-evidence in this case should/could ever have concluded that Knox or Sollecito should be convicted. And secondly, even for those who did (erroneously) believe that the evidence proved Knox's/Sollecito's guilt, they often seemed far too keen on vilifying and (for want of a better term in this web 2.0 age) "hating on" Knox particularly, and Sollecito almost as much so.

So it's all very well for them to say that they respect the SC's decision, or that they hope the SC "made the right decision for the right reasons", but what they really should be doing is examining themselves very closely: why did they devote so much time, effort and emotion campaigning against Knox and Sollecito? Why did they taunt them frequently with bullying, nasty insults (maybe, for example, "mimi" will publish her disgusting collection of "funny" cartoons now. No? Thought not.). And they might want to ask themselves just what it is in their psychopathy that they have dedicated so much time, energy and emotion trying to get Knox and Sollecito convicted of murder - the murder of a woman whom virtually all of them never knew, but who seemed to assume a near mythical quality to so many of them.

Well I agree with you really, but I am just a bit more happy about Rafaelle and Amanda right now. And I think, whatever their faults, the Kerchers have still the desperate sadness of the death of Meredith.

I wish I could. I admired him for how eloquently he made hi arguments, but could not stomach his dedication to obfuscation to sell his position.

But what does "God" have to say about all this? Hopefully he's found himself in an Italian prison, or a Canadian one ASAP.

I agree Mach argued his position, usually politely and often informatively. He deserves our respect. (Very Rugby; we'll all line up and applaud the opposition as they leave the pitch).

I don't think the online abuse of Amanda and Raffaele will end here, sadly.

Me neither. But I hope and expect that the three organised pro-guilt forums/blogs (TJFMK, PMF.org and PMF.com) will wind up pretty sharpish. That's if they have any class whatsoever. We'll see, I guess.

I was pretty sure the Machiavelli collective were a rotating cast of Perugian law enforcement members who got stuck with astroturfing duty, and were well aware that they were misrepresenting both facts and law to support an unjust conviction. But each to their own.

I have now never predicted anything to do with this right.

I would just like to commend you for your patience. You really got under the skin of a PGP commentator on a censored site and I always thought therefore you must be doing something good!

I don't like that. . . . .If he did not threaten with violence, people should have the right of free speech even if horrid.

Well LJ, I think you raise wonderful questions as articulately as ever.

Sadly, I believe they will not be convinced by the rulings of any court, will remain convinced on their invincible convictions, and move on to the next opportunity to slander their betters in whatever miscarriage of justice they can find. It's worth trailing their interests, as they seem to have an unfailing grasp of the inane.

Congratulations to the PIPs here! I suspect that this long-running thread played a role in justice finally being done.

What a roller coaster 24hrs. Met my (then) step-son for the first time in 12 years (he was 5 last time I saw him) which has been emotional and exhilarating, then learned a good friend passed away unexpectedly yesterday making me very said, then this news making me very happy ...

Giulia Bongiorno literally jumped into Carlo Dalla Vedova's arms for a huge hug as they exited the courtroom.
