It is pretty laughable that Republicans suspect that Hillary didn't turn over all relevant emails; that she might hiding something that will become their long sought after silver bullet if they can only find it. Yet they think that she will give it to them? Seriously? What possibly reason would she have to do that?

I understand that they want to compel her to hand over the server if she won't do it voluntarily, but even then their logic makes no sense. Do they think that in addition to being evil she's dumb enough to give them evidence proving how evil she is? If these emails exist, it would make no sense for her to make not sure that Republicans never find them. And this would be easy to do this. Step 1) Delete emails. Step 2) overwrite free space on disk 3) celebrate victory over Republicans.

well I will put aside the fact that you seem to be gloating that Hillary seemingly hoodwinked people seeking to investigate her term as SoS, let me add

Step 4) hire computer forensic examiner
Step 5) recover data or
Step 6) determine that it was intentionally destroyed.

Either way, Hillary comes out looking like a complete scumbag.

Politicians "hoodwink" people all the time. Whether she actually did in this situation or not, we'll probably never find out. I don't believe she did because it would require the entire Benghazi investigation to hinge on emails that only live on Clinton's server. Which would prove, again, how stupid those that have run the investigations up to, and including, this point have been. Gross incompetence on behalf of the committees that were tasked to perform the previous 5,000 investigations. By the way, you say her term as SoS, has she been accused of any actual wrongdoing to this point (outside of cowboy homebrew lolz oh noz)? Outside of the Benghazi bovine fecal matter, is there anything else that has come up that she has been accused of? Don't bother answering, I know what you'll say, "WE WON'T KNOWZ UNTIL SERVERZ!! COWBOY! HOMEBREW!". I'll save us both the time.

Step 4) hire computer forensic examiner

Which even the dumbest person would have already done to destroy the evidence. I mean, seriously, it's like computer 101. Just replace the hard drive, copy wanted information and destroy the old hard drive. Even if there were evidence it would be gone; however, I haven't paid attention to what email interface she had and if it would be traceable through that. I do believe you're grossly overestimating what a computer forensic examiner can do though. Also, Clinton is a lawyer, do you really think she's stupid enough to not consult someone if she were hiding something?

Step 5) recover data or

Through the powers of....MAGIC!!!!! Kidding. You can't just be like, "computer forensic man, recover me some dataz" and expect it to work.

Step 6) determine that it was intentionally destroyed.

Wwwwhhhiiiiicccchhhh is kind of a crap shoot. She already said she destroyed some emails. Your steps are completely ludicrous and don't really line up with reality.

Either way, Hillary comes out looking like a complete scumbag.

Which would be fine since the Republican Presidential candidates are all in the exact same boat. Cruz is a joke. Christie is a moron. Bush did the exact same thing Hillary is doing, but pretended that he was releasing everything (despite saying himself that he picked and chose what he was releasing), and the list goes on and on. Call it a tu quoque if you want, but worst case scenario she's on the same level as the Republican candidates. Best case scenario, nobody cares....which according to information posted here definitely appears to be the case.

What about Huma

Here is an excellent article about another scandal peculating namely the special employment of Huma Abedin.

http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/senator-presses-info-humas-special-govt-status-and-her-emails_892068.html

"10. Did Secretary Clinton request a review of any materials proposed for removal? Did Ms. Abedin do the same?

11. Did a State Department official review the entirety of Secretary Clinton’s email server prior to Secretary Clinton deleting any emails?

12. Did Ms. Abedin delete any work-related emails from Secretary Clinton’s server?

13. Did a State Department official notify Secretary Clinton regarding her obligations to preserve written and typed material? Was such a notice provided to Ms. Abedin?"

Did Hillary destroy Huma's emails too?

JAQing off?. Wrong forum Sparky.

DavidJames didn't read the article huh?

I'm shocked.

here is my surprised face: o

Senator Chuck Grassley has sent two letters to the State Department to ask about Huma Abedin's special government status when she was a government employee--and for information on Abedin's email use while working for the government.

Hurr Durr! The US Senate is just asking questions!

The fact that you give Senate Republicans (the word you "forgot") more credence then your garden grade political CTists doesn't mean they still aren't just JAQing Off.

Yeah, that is how congressional committees work.

You know how they work just about as well as you understand the concept of Jaq'ing off.

http://www.newsmax.com/Politics/poll-quinnipiac-hillary-clinton-2016/2015/03/23/id/631855/

according to a new Quinnipiac University poll of 1,228 New York state voters that puts her several percentage points over not only all potential Democratic challengers, but also over possible Republican contenders by margins of 20 percentage points or more.

But just wait until they find all her secret emails ...

Is that from 2007? :D

But just wait until they find that she destroyed all her secret emails ...

The Hillary is 45 crowd won't care of course, hell they and Hillary find governmental transparency a huge pain in the ass and one that needs to be circumvented at any costs.

She's Ready

...the lack of an IG could prove very helpful.

Sure could.

Well, you got it; the smoking gun. More selective outrage hypocrisy nonsense willfully overlooked info great info from 16.5!

I mean, it's not like there were vacant IG posts under other SoSs.

I mean, Colin Powell was the United States Secretary of State from January 20, 2001 until January 26, 2005.

There was a SoS IG vacancy from January 23, 2003 until May 2, 2005.

Did you know:

Colin Powell says he doesn’t have any of his State emails

Appearing on ABC’s “This Week” Sunday, Powell responded to revelations that he used a personal email account, rather than a government one, when he was in charge of the State Department.

“I don’t have any to turn over. I did not keep a cache of them. I did not print them off. I do not have thousands of pages somewhere in my personal files,”

The lack of an IG could proved very helpful during that time, huh fellas?

I'm just glad we have you here to keep us in the know with up-to-the-minute developments.

Good work!

Thanks man! Yes it is very disturbing that there was no IG in place to enforce the email/archiving requirements during Hillary Clinton's and Colin Powell's stints as SoS, particularly after the rules were greatly strengthened after Powell left office.

I have repeatedly stated that Powell might deserve the cell next to Clinton's.

Great stuff indeed.

Fortunately no one is fallaciously arguing that Powell's conduct excuses Hilary's misconduct, particularly where hers is much more egregious, deliberate and the destruction of documents intentional. that would be ridiculous.

Great!

So...what do we do now? How do we prevent this in the future? Any ideas?

They already know she destroyed her personal emails. She said so.

And it appears no one cares to any extent that will affect a presidential bid.

This has been a tempest in a teapot. A small blip on the radar that won't even be a blip once the republican hopefuls start ripping each other apart.

The committee on benghazi will continue trying to stir the pot. It will continue to excite a select few, and the for the rest of us, life and the news will move on.

Absolutely. First we start with assembling all of the records that should have been saved but were not, and get some forensic computer people in there to get those records.

I know that Colin Powell is actively cooperating with the State Department, Hillary, not so much. maybe a couple of nights in the slammer for contempt of Congress will shake those records loose, huh?

Yes, the way to prevent this in the future is to thwart Hillary Clinton's governmental ambitions. As with Obama, there is a critical mass of partisan supporters who will defend her no matter what, which has the effect of stymieing the protections against corruption built into our system. If you want a President whose feet are held to the fire, you need to elect a Republican because the Republicans either can't or won't successfully defend a President purely for partisan purposes.

Exactly. And therein lies the problem. In my view, Hillary's behavior should be disqualifying. A run-of-the-mill bureaucrat who did what she did would be facing a criminal indictment right about now. But, unfortunately, my view is swamped by Machiavellian partisanship.
