Merged Apollo "hoax" discussion - continuation thread

I have adopted a theory of my own: if on reading a post, one can't tell the difference between satire and a sincere belief, then it doesn't really matter which is which. A serious response presenting the actual facts is unlikely to be what the poster seeks in either case.

I like those because people like Jay, Apollo, sts, etc... answer things about the space program I was never crazy enough to ask...

Don't waste your breath. He's not serious

Ugh. That makes it even sadder.

Is the JREF message board training wheels for people who hope to one day troll other message boards? It is not that hard to get us to believe you. We are not the major leagues or even the minor leagues. We are Pee-Wee baseball. If you love striking out 10-year-olds, then you'll love trolling our board.

Why would the Nazis test a manned cruise missile by flying any where even pointed toward Tokyo. That story makes no sense. Typical moon hoax stuff - half remembering half a story and getting half what was remembered half wrong anyway. I sit here eating homemade linguini and thumb typing on a nuclear powered pocket supercomputer fully confident that before I finish my snack I could google three things like wallnut's story but different and two things they did even more outrageous that low-information internetees haven't even heard of. Can't they even bother to google the basic facts of a story to make it seem like they know what they're talking about?

I'm increasingly convinced the moon hoax is effectively extinct in the wild.

But, but...

It's from the Internet, so it must be true!!

For those interested in such matters, the Nazis did test an air-launched, manned cruise missile. It was based on the V1 and some 175 were built but it was never used in combat. Allegedly, the pilot had a 1% chance of bailing out and surviving. Like the V1, this was a relatively short-range device.

Wikipedia has a description of it at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fieseler_Fi_103R_Reichenberg

For a non-Wikipedia reference, see Germany's Secret Weapons of World War II by Roger Ford (2013).

Wallnut's reference to a German ICBM may be a vague allusion to the A9/A10 two-stage rocket that was conceived but never built. There was a scheme to fit it too with a suicide pilot who would glide the winged second stage across the Atlantic. This also may be found in Roger Ford's book.

It perplexes me that so much investment has been directed to the exploration and supposed manned missions to Mars when our Moon would seem to be a more rational and economical place to start.

That's because people got tired of the missions, and now they need something grander to latch on to. People don't like spending money on things they find worthless.

The fact that costly and limited resources are being used on such a premature and questionable goal of supposedly occupying Mars makes me question if this is a delaying tactic because the technology for humans to safely depart our planet does not, and has never existed.

No, the reason why you think so is that you are conspiracy-minded.

Ya that's what happened except he didn't change his mind only what he made public !!

This topic is depressing enough with the true believers. Stop that.

46 years and no other manned flight by any country has returned to the Van Allen belt !

The belts were never the actual destination, you know. Where's the political motivation to back up there ?

The belts were never the actual destination, you know.

Nor were they ever an actual waypoint. Apollo parking orbits (and thus translunar orbits) had fairly high inclinations reckoned in geomagnetic coordinates. The was part of the timing of the launches. As you can see from the illustrations, the trapped radiation belts are grossly toroidal. There are thinner, much less intense areas at the geomagnetic poles. And in an inclined orbit, one can exit the Earth's vicinity through those holes without violating any tent of orbital mechanics.

Even in authoritative literature, the Apollo trajectories are often rendered in simplified terms, with Earth's orbit, the Moon's orbit, and the spacecraft flight paths depicted as coplanar. While that helps understand the mission phases, it conveys the mistaken impression the ships go through the densest portions of the Van Allen belts.

Here's Bob Braeunig's page that shows elements of the actual geometries of those orbits and how they relate to the trapped radiation belts.

Why would aliens be needed? It's not like the Apollo astronauts had to pile stones.

The aliens would be needed so that while the the astronauts piled up blocks into a pyramid they would indeed encode Pi, Phi and !

!! I knew you were going to say that !!

Now I need to see if I can stream ToP's "What is Hip?".

Not sure though if I'm risking drawing the aliens to us. Screw it, it worth it. :p

Citing Jeff Rense on anything is not a good way to get anybody to take you seriously.

Jeff rense when spelled backwards is written esnerffej a proto-Elamite word that means, "outrageous liar"
