The reality is, in the on-line world there are always a certain percentage of very coarse people who launch crude attacks on anyone with whom they take issue. We even see examples of this here, don't we?

Is it because she is female, or because of her online persona? I know it seems like such crazy question, that maybe people just don't like her the same way men who have vocal online persona also get death threats and harassment. The women we are talking about here seem to have it fixed in their head that the only reason they are getting this treatment is because they are female.

Of that lot, there are nutters who will abuse men, black people, jews, muslims, people who don't make recipes the same as them, animal varieties, religions, atheists

How many men have GamerGate harassed? When Zoe Quinn was wrongly accused of sleeping with a male games journalist in exchange for coverage, why did they go after her, and not the journalist? Considering they claim to be campaigning for ethics in games journalism, surely their beef is with him, not her?

Kitchens don't need to be intolerably hot. Besides it's more than a little ironic that the whole metaphor depends upon a domain that was traditionally forced upon women anyway.

She said the message was scary. In what way was it scary? Was there some hidden threat somewhere in that message?

There is almost certainly nothing to those threat. The amount of people threatening, insulting, and doing various negative stuff online is staggering. But those have almost no real impact, in fact it is so rare as to have somebody really making good on those threat that it is always on the news.

I think the main point is that predominantly women compared to men are taking those threat for serious. IIRC there was a statistic showing that while men were doing msot of the harassing , in reality men were 3 timers more likely to receive a threat or an insult on social media than women. But, women were far more likely to feel negatively impacted to it.

I know it is trite, but male in average seem to be less affected by social interraction than women (I was threatened to be killed, raped, my family killed and raped so many time in online gaming, I just ignore the person).

Do I have a solution ? No. As somebody having watched the perpetual september come, I have no solution other than try to bear it. I know that people will tell me it is insensitive etc.... But really what would you propose ?
