"Obliging" anyone of any age to read scripture should be illegal. Period.

I have no objections to second-language education, but the second language should reflect the parents' heritage, the child's explicit desire to learn a specific language, or a language that will be useful in the future to the child. Hebrew is not a particularly useful language, as there are relatively few native speakers. Learning Chinese would permit communication with considerably more people. Instead of the Tanakh, there are classics such as the Daodejing and the Analects of Kong Fuzi to read (although I've found that these are quite readable in English, too).

Your project, Nationalcosmopolitan, is at its heart xenophobic because it deliberately ignores the cultures of billions of people. I am absolutely appalled that you would dare to call your absurd Judaism-centric scheme "secular," because it is the very antithesis of secular.

Your project simply cannot deliver what it promises.

I consider that to be a grievous flaw in the Israeli school system. Canadian public school students are not obligated to read any scriptures at all. Students attending religious schools are usually taught the scriptures of that religious tradition. People who want to study scriptures can do so through churches, or through university-level courses.
I agree with you.
If children at school study only Quran, or only Bible, or only Tripitaka, or only Tanah, or don't study those greatest books most of them will be internally xenophobes and xcent haters and externally they will look tolerance, non communicative and non complement.
If children will read all 4 great books they will be in relationship of creative complement communication with most people of the world.
No. Absolutely not. Childhood is for play, socialization, and basic education -- Not for indoctrination in mythology.
As well as a man evolved from monkey all world civilization and culture evolved from those 4 greatest books.
They are the culture code of today's Global Civilization.
If we want real success to the project "Globalization and Multiculturalism" all people have to become lifelong, high and multi professional educated and they have to know 4 books of all 4 world religions.
It's 15,000 books, actually (at least in the Theravada canon; the Mahayana schools have their own collections). Have you read all of them yet?
It'll be enough http://www.accesstoinsight.org/tipitaka/
It is within the rights of all people on Earth to say "No, I don't want to read those."
Better to say, that we urge to live in today's clueless world of total xenophobia and excavating because it is just the same.
No. Your way is actually a cumbersome process that deliberately ignores the scriptures dear to the hearts of Hindus and Sikhs and many other religions. Your way will increase the hatred in the world by relegating many peoples' beliefs to second-class status and showing disrespect for people who do not want to study scriptures at all.
There are very many interesting books of different religions.
If the person from his childhood adopted to read regularly 4 books of 4 world religions it will be very possible that many other religion texts he will read too.

Why would I want to bother My co-workers by asking hypothetical questions about a barking-mad social experiment that will almost certainly never see the light of day? It's your plan, so you should be the one raising funds and creating a working model to see if you have any chance at all of making it work.

From what I can tell, you haven't gotten very far at all.

You simply don't want to ascertain that the most people like to work 1248 working hours in my weekly symmetrical format much more than to work every week, 1800 hours a year for the same money.

What a preposterous waste of resources! I'd be rather concerned about someone trying to knock it out of the sky, either as a political statement or just for the sport of it.

Assuming, of course, that a strong gust of wind didn't destroy it first.

If you ever do have such a ghastly thing built, please ensure that it is a drone, and that no human beings need risk their lives to fly it.

I don't want to discuss deeply the technical details of my Flying Temple.
I was the chief constructor (designer) of many machines and all them are workable and work even now.
I am absolutely sure that my Flying Temple is very realistic project.
Strong wind - but it will fly.
Guns and rockets shots - but it will fly.

I got to thinking a bit about this, concerning the feasability.

I now have 1 month of holidays, each year. Actually a bit more, it being the Netherlands and such, but let's roll with the month.

During that month of holidays, in which I love to learn about things cultural and historical, my spend is about double that of ordinary months.
Which is logical, because, next to the normal fixed costs, the cost of the holiday is added.

That means that with an entire half year for holiday (and it doesn't matter if you take it one week at a time or in one large batch of six months) my salary would have to increase by 50%, just to pay for the holidays.
I can't see me working less (to get to the 1248 hours), while earning 50% more, doing the same work I did before.

Their employees will probably eat them if these employees are forced to abstain from food six days out of seven.

I see that you are very honest in your discussion.
May be it is the reason why you mix the "Symmetry of working weeks and creative vacation weeks lifestyle" with "To eat only in the 7th Day lifestyle".

[inigo]You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.[/inigo]

Now your plan involves forced indoctrination. I hesitate to ask, what about the enormous resistance this will encounter? I assume your just going to snuff them out with sheer military force?

Where did you get those numbers? I ask because you have a history of making things up.

Sorry my fault.
GDP per hour in 2010 in US was $ 59.
Average hour earning in 2010 was $ 17 in dollars 2005.
Unfortunately I have an interesting table but site does not work.

And this accomplishes what exactly? Set a a bit of a waste when you're robbing the economy of half it's productivity.

In 1970 an average hour earning in US was 61% of average hour productivity.
In 2010 after 40 years an average hour earning in US was 28% of average hour productivity.
It means that the average hour productivity had growth for 40 years but the average hour earning was between 15 - 17 dollars (in dollars 2005) for all those period.
Now tell who really robbed economy and most people?

Well he'll be grand puba of the flying temple. Engorged on raw buckwheat and meat wearing his silly hat waving to the malnourished Ethiopian looking masses as their forced to work and eat gruel by military force.
Here you can see my hat more exactly.
You can see Buddhism Yin Yang picture, Christian Cross, Islamic crescent and 3D Magen David.
It is my hat of Secular Abrahamic - Buddhist person of New Saturday Era.
On my hat you also can see the Weekfold calendar - my invention.

I know I know.

It was them who did it.

This has what to do with your silly little flying temple thingy?

I suspect that the Israeli population is far too well-educated to allow Nationalcosmopolitan's ideas to gain traction, and that at best he'll be able to get an "army" of half a dozen fanatics who like eating buckwheat. The Parent-Teacher Association of any Jerusalem middle school should be able to take them out.

I sincerely believe that the "New Saturday" project is sufficiently ludicrous, ill-conceived and underfunded to simply fail on its own lack of merits -- But it's still delightful fun to eviscerate and mock it.

Buddhism doesn't use the Yin/Yang symbol. That's Daoism.
Does that mean we have to study the Dao De Jing as well as the Tanakh, Tripitaka and Quran?

Will we have to make any changes in the layout of the Holy Zeppelin? It could be made to look like a flying Yin Yang symbol.
