Prince Andrew (Allegations of Famous People Engaged in Bad Sex Part 57)

Helicopter pilot. Acted as a flying decoy for heat seeking missiles.

Apart from that pretty boring

Minor correction - they were Exocets, which are radar guided.

After some of the revelations that The Atheist was alluding to, he replaced Edward as the royal I'd like to become monarch - as I think he'd invest the institution with the level of dignity it deserves. Edward had been in the lead for that reason following "It's a royal knockout"

I think I can speak for most Americans when I say that I didn't even know there was a Prince Andrew until just right now.

If you are speaking for most Americans, then that fact speaks for most Americans.

Honestly isn't it about time people came up with a word that specifically referred to people who had illegal sex with underage minors (including 17 - 20 year olds)?

I believe that's pretty much the definition of 'Statutory rape'?

What does that actually mean? He is unassailable. When all this is over, he will still be a pampered prince, in any possible circumstance you can think of.

Hmmmm who saw active duty in the Falkland war, very pampered indeed

Are you suggesting that not knowing the breadth of the royal family is a sign of ignorance?

There are many signs that Americans are embarrassingly ignorant. Not giving a toss about various pampered princes doesn't bother me in the least. Aside from the royalty that acts as head of state, it's just another form of celebrity from where I sit.

(Struck "pampered", because I see no point in arguing over that description.)

It is one thing not to care - but to go into a thread about said pampered prince and make a public comment about a topic you clearly have no knowledge seems a little odious to me on any level

Yeah but "Statutory rapist" just sounds awkward in my opinion. It doesn't have that ring too it that makes it easy to use like rapist or sex criminal have to them.

Rather depends, I suppose, on the comment itself.

To say, "I didn't even know there was a Prince Andrew," doesn't strike me as odious.

Did you have some other comment in mind? Maybe something I said?

I wouldn't blame anyone outside the UK for not knowing Prince Andrew given that he has little chance of succeeding to the throne. I would think it a bit surprising if someone had a lot of worldly knowledge and didn't know that Prince Charles was next in line. Not because I think they really ought to respect the institution of the monarchy but because the UK is still a fairly influential country and nominally heads a large Commonwealth of nations which appear to like being in the club.

As for Prince Andrew himself, although you struck the word "pampered" to avoid making it a point of contention, from what I understand, Prince Andrew is probably one of the few Royals who can claim to have genuniely stepped out of the pampered bubble during his Royal Navy service (although I expect that is disputed too). No doubt he got a head start in life through family connections, of course, but it doesn't take a monarchy to do that. Besides, it is not as if he started the Falkland's War, although there were a number of gentlemen in a certain presidential administration who did and most of them had less than impressive combat records and rather impressive deferment records. Who needs an actual monarchy when you have hereditary privilege like that? ;)

For some here the allegation will suffice. For me, there's not a lot to go on. It seems to be the case that she has been caught out on a lie previously in a similar vein (if Dershowitz's assertion is correct) so I'm struggling to believe it at this moment in time until further evidence is revealed.

IOW - I'm on the fence.

ditto

As an ignorant American, when I first heard this story I thought Prince Andrew was the guy married to Queen Elizabeth, and then I thought.. "Dang, he's a little old to be doing that isn't he?". I had to google search to find out that was Philip not Andrew.

You may begin your disdain of me now.

In my case it would be (mild) envy, not disdain.

The Royals are thusly:

1. The Queen (she's the main one) Elizabeth II, aka "Buffy", aka "Trixxxie Love"
2. The Prince Consort (her dude) Oberyn Martell, aka "The Red Viper", aka "Not the Face!"
3. King Arthur (their eldest son)
4. Prince William of the Endless Forehead (Arthur's eldest son)
5. Prince Harry (William's younger, sexier brother)
6. Prince, aka "the artist formerly known as Prince"
7. Fergie (not the one you are thinking of)
8. Joanna Lumley
9. Fergie (the one you are thinking of)
10. Princess Serenity of the Silver Millenium Moon Kingdom, aka "Sailor Moon"
11. Wilberforce Claybourne Humphries

Thank you for clarifying, TM. You bring up a salient point: what judgement may we form about someone who, of their own free will, marries Fergie? Precisely.

After a certain point, mere accolades become meaningless; but I no longer see your name on that list...what happened?
